owned a century arms cetme. loved it. mine would accept 1$ aluminum G3 mags. accuracy was amazing. with 43.5gr of n140, and sierra 168s i could get a 1.30 group at 100. it would consistenly shoot a vertical string less 1/2 inch wide and 1.5 inch tall... pretty good for a stock battle rifle. HKparts has the best scope mounts for them too, i would stay away from the stanag, its too high, and mine was not rock solid. trigger is awful, had williams trigger specialties do a trigger job on mine. made it 10 times better

I have a Cetme and I they run great. They have issues. The new black furniture they come with is total crap, get rid of it and throw an HK furniture set on it and dont look back. Next thing is the trigger pull, it sucks. I had Bill Springfeild at TriggerWork.net to a trigger job, likewise the cetme rear sights suck, I had bill also put on a HK rear drum.

None of the American imported or made cetme/g3s have a paddle release. It makes the rifle suck ergo wise, I had Bill put in an HK paddle release. The rifle is great now. A Cetme will eat any ammo you put in it, even the crappyist steel cased ammo. Great battle rifles after some work. My Cetme with $250 worth of work can run head to head with any PTR or HK91.

Another note, the Cetme locking pins for the handguards and stock suck, it's a good idea to replace them with HK ones.

I have been thinking about picking up a CETME. Does anyone have any direct experience with one? I don't know anybody who has owned or shot one.

Your comments/advice are greatly appreciated.

I own one and am fairly happy with it runs good pretty accurate, hard to ****, but heavy to me. I prefer my PSL 7.62x54 or my M1A.

Before you buy it check it over well. Check for ground bolt, canted sights, check for proper bolt and cocking tube gap, check that the rails are straight and not too far out of alignment from the trunion, if it was put together correctly they are pretty good guns. Were even better when they were $300-$350.

I owned one for about a year and then sold it for what i had in it. I guess I am the only one thus far in this thread that had a POS that Century knocked together.
Check it over well

Good luck. I had one that shot great, functioned fine, accurate. Then I found out it had +4 rollers, a ground bolt and needed the barrel repressed. I was able to trade+cash for what I should have got in the 1st place. No regrets. I get 3inches at 100 yards using iron sights with this.
