To Disney - Woke, political, Hard-Left.
Disney was probably chosen by the Leftist cabal to approach Matt Drudge, because Drudge was a Disneyland employee, years earlier. He worked in the gift shop in Anaheim when he got started - he was broke, and his parents gave him a PC for a Christmas present. He set it up, used Disney's Internet access (when it was hard for a non-student, non-corporate person to get online) and started doing a gossip-and-politics newsletter for friends who also had online access.
In a short time, more people had access and his friends passed the newsletter around. Matt put it on a public URL. Then news sites picked it up - turns out, most of his tips and reports were correct. Drudge grew in stature.
It became a full-time job and a profitable property. And it was a pain in the Left's collective arse.
Being self-employed, even successfully, for less than two decades, does not translate to a big fortune or retirement plan. That was where Drudge could be corrupted. He was bought out by Disney - on the hush-hush - with a contract that he was to say NOTHING about it.
Before the 2020 election, he made rote denials about selling out. Now he's disappeared...check Tahiti...

If the power grid is down...EOTWAWKI...your bitcoins are gone.
Even if you plug into a generator, they're useless without an Internet grid, and many, many millions of others ready to TAKE crypto.
Now, if the power's out...at first, the store closes.
As the calamity lengthens, the store will be opened - by authorities, or looters, or maybe even by the owners. Items will be out to be sold (or given to favored people, if it's government seizing the contents). Much of that will be traded on the "black market" - which won't be so black; it'll be the only market, and out in the street.
You won't be able to wave a flash drive at them. But if you have junk silver, you can probably get some supplies. Paper money, or pot-metal modern change...depends on how stupid the looters are.

Are you under the impression that people who understand crypto and are fans don't believe in having physical, tangible assets? No electricity/internet anywhere? Is all your prepping geared towards TEOTWAWKI or do you also plan for much more likely scenarios? Do you realize that in the scenario you just posed, you actually made a pretty damn good case for crypto?

Nope, I make no case.
You need an extensive, worldwide infrastructure for crypto to work. The world-wide web. Others with computers who believe in 1s and 0s as money.
In a catastrophe, that won't be the case.
In a political revolution/crackdown, bitcoin exchanges will go the way of the Silk Road trading site. Go the way that file-transfer protocol programs (like Napster and Limewire) - that is, government will shut them down.
If the e-money fans have PMs...good on them. They should have more. I think they're deluding themselves that this electronic scrip will have any value at all, when things get "real."

Seems to me that PMs only have value if they can be sold / converted to government fiat. When CBDCs are ushered in, that government fiat will be the CBDCs. All other currencies will be deemed illegal. They’re not going to exchange CBDCs for pms. If there was an industrial need for your gold, it would be purchased with CBDC. For a time, PM holders may trade between themselves on black markets, but how would value be determined when their is no government currency to peg it to? CBDCs will render pms and crypto worthless I believe.
