Just lamenting the cost of a redwood grow box when I saw a catalog showing grow box kits that were really expensive. Basically thin metal banding and a breathable type of fabric that you put together.

Can I do the same with PVC tube and heavy mill plastic?

Obviously I would stake the PVC frame to the ground.

I don't have any ground, just muskeg and woods so I've been using old skiffs for garden containers. I use 1" PVC pipe with garden clips to "greenhouse" the boats in the cool spring. I shoved a piece of re-bar in the dirt, then the pvc over that. Is this what you mean?

One year I put dalias in this one, I just needed some color. Since they're edible I got food for the soul and the table both.

"treated' wood could mean either of two things.

1- creosote, which is highly toxic and illegal. Nobody manufactures creosote wood anymore, and nobody has made it for decades.

2- 'pressure-treated' lumber, which has copper soaked into it. Copper is not really toxic. I would not eat the lumber, but the amount of copper that will leech out is very safe.
