Californians, unless you act now and support for a repeal of AB962 with the passage of AB1663, restrictions on ammunition sales by the California Legislature and Governor in 2009 take effect on February 1, 2011. AB962 passed and mandates individuals purchasing ammunition to be fingerprinted and registered at the time of sale and outlaws mail-order ammunition purchases, reloading components, etc. AB962 also requires dealers to maintain these records for at least five years and make them available for inspection by the California Department of Justice. As an additional burden, ammunition retailers are also required to store ammunition away from purchasers.

I feel Gov. Schwarzenegger is criminalizing us with AB962 more than criminals who obtain their firearms and ammunition illegally. This bill is against our free enterprise and commerce restricting where we purchase our sporting necessities. Cabelas said that with the passage of AB962 they will no longer ship ammunition to California. Gov. Schwarzengger previously gave us handgun micro stamping, now AB962 which is as ridicules. Many other states have tried this and each has failed. Their record keeping was overwhelmingly to control and costly. People outside of law enforcement obtained citizens personal information. Acts like this spurred lawsuits. Californian’s get legalized pot clinics while it citizens lose their 2nd amendment and other rights. Will this legislation add cost to California’s worsening economy? Are we reaching a tipping point in America and do you feel as I do that enough is enough? Could your state be next?
