I have been looking around to buy a Kukri for a while now my only problem is what can I abuse, and what will break. Was wondering what is a good buy without breaking my wallet.. thanks.
The Cold Steel kukri machete is a very good option if you don't want to break the bank. You should definitely check them out (I think there is a torture test somewhere on YouTube)

Just remember that this is truly a machete... the thickness and, consequently, weight of a real Khukhri will produce completely different results. True, this machete is more weight forward than a traditional machete, which will aid in chopping, but will not compare to the real deal.

Try these guys: http://www.thekhukurihouse.com/

The cheap stamped steel machete kukri from CS are not so good. I would consider it fine for hacking zombie heads and cleaning limbs of twigs, but not for real chopping. I have the old carbon v kukri and I love it. The new SK5 one is still way too much. I'd go Kabar or other carbon steel kukri design.

The kukri was popular for war in the last apocalypse, with the greeks learning from the easternasians over india. They took it home and defended Sparta with its hybridized design. I don't know when it fell out of favor to bowie and stiletto knives.

I have a large bowie, but for large smashing and rough use, a kukri rocks.

I have had a couple of kukri's from KH ( see tricky48's post #3 )
well made from leaf springs will take what you can throw at it. Lovely people to deal with well made kit. I have a friend who brings me one or two back from Nepal when he comes. Cant fault 'em.
