You have gotten some real good advice above. Vortex is new(I'm old) have no experience
with it. I remember when Bushnell was a good scope. Then they became crap. Now I'm hearing they are quality scopes again( I have 2 that are tied to duck decoys as anchor weights. Both over 20 yrs old). I have picked up a couple of the new ones and they look good(the same can be said for Weaver.) SeekHer had a real good reply in another thread. Function is going to determine what scope you need. How close you will be shooting and how far you will be shooting. A .300 win mag is a reach out and touch some one cartridge. For normal hunting a 3x9 will be excellent. I prefer Leupold and Burris. I heartily second the Leopold VXI 3x9 posted earlier. You won't get the clarity that you would with the VXII,III,IIII,or VII but you won't be paying the price either.
