The last thing I do when sharpening a knife is strop the blade. I even coat the inside of the belt that holds my pants up with aluminum oxide. That way if I touch my blade up I always have a strop handy. Or you can use the side of your boot. There is enough grit in the leather to finish the edge.

I would be reluctant to put AlO2 on my clothing as there is evidence that this can be linked to Altzheimers disease with prolonged exposure.
Just an observation as the belt being on an area of the body that tends to sweat(under the belt) absorbtion can take place.
