[old disturbed guy]

I live south east of Portland, OR and we get a lot of rain. I have a problem with green beans getting a blackish stain on them after it rains if I don't pick them fast enough. Can anyone tell me what this stain is and how to prevent it or how to clean it off of the beans? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,

Scroll down to the Disease Cycle paragraph (second section down) and see if that's a possibility.

Now, this site is from Cornell and thus will be oriented to new York and that area of the country but a lot of these problems affect most all regions.

With all of your rain, I'm inclined to think it is some kind of fungal problem.

I would try washing the plants with antibacterial hand soap.

Put the soap in a sprayer and spray the plants down.

Yep, fungus. Dish soap and baking soda sprayed on sometimes helps. Ask your county extension agent. He needs to earn his pay.
