Can anyone recommend a good breathable,(and cheap) bivy sack?

Check campmor or rei for them. i think OR makes one as well as slumberjack and several others. Or you go the route of the usgi issue goretex one.
Ive got a cheap SG one but its sucks.

Bivy

Go with the usgi sleep system Extreme cold weather bag, patrol bag, and the gortex bivy the system works great when your done stuff it all into the compression stuff sack, and move on out.

Cheap is subjective but normally means less breathable/ less durable. What will you be using it for? Stand alone shelter, under a tarp, in a snow cave, etc.

My Early Winters bivy sack cost $80, but that was back in the 1980s when gore tex was high dollar.
