One of my hobbies is monitoring the radical left. This year the lefties have a special May Day celebration planned, a general strike. You may ask how you can hold a strike when so many people have been forced out of work by the government and you would be right to doubt. It's unlikely that many people who are still working will walk out, after all, they need the money. Another possibility is that the left will claim victory because so many people don't show up at work. Of course, these people weren't working to begin with which makes the strike into an unintentional parody of leftist ideologies.

However, I would expect at least some rioting in the business districts of large cities, especially the leftist cesspools of Portland and Seattle. It's ironic that these lefties who have been crying in their double lattes over working class Trump supporters protesting at state capitols are now prepared to take to the streets to keep people at home and out of work. The end game of the far-left and some liberals appears to be to destroy the economy so they can replace it with socialism.

If you work in the central business district of any large city, take special precautions on Friday, May 1st.

There is talk about a rent strike.
That's being pushed by AOC. Her pea-sized brain fails to see the difference between suspending mortgage payments and suspending rent.

With a mortgage, the payment is delayed. The homeowner will still have to pay the mortgage, but the payment schedule has been slid further out.

With rent, you cannot slide the payments back, and people will not be able to pay double, triple, or quadruple rents when this is over, so AOC is expecting rents to be forgiven. Meanwhile, the bills are still coming in for the landlord.

It makes sense only from a communist perspective.

Wonder if it will be endorsed by the communist politicians on the Left Coast?

If people are protesting to start the economy back up again, and there is pushback to that, it would be interesting if The Workers Party/Socialist of America/union workers did the same and folks like Newsom and Garcetti had no complaints.

Thanks for the heads up; glad I don't go to the urban cesspools any more.

It because the reason for rent strikes and protests is because people can't work because of covid19 and they are out of money.

Has nothing to do with the virus. It should probably be moved.

As someone who used to be a lefty activist and lead a bunch of activist groups let me explain:

May Day is a holiday celebrated by fantasizing about general rising of the people to support your cause. It's like Christmas for activists, but Santa's not real and your parents are broke and they don't love you.

Every single year every activist group plans their moment in the sun, backed by the masses during a May Day general strike and protest to support their chosen cause. Doesn't matter if you're cause is anti-war, economic, environmental, or whatever else. Massive amounts of marketing is conducted to tell the world about their planned activity and build excitement, and everyone shows up ready to party on May Day.

1. No one cares. No one other than the activist group members consider May Day a thing at all and they simply don't pay any attention.

2. No one who isn't already an activist shows up.

3. The activists all show up to their own events so they're way more divided than they usually are. Many people are members of multiple groups. So they just pick whichever group who's people they like to most and go to their thing on the other side of town.

4. Since no one else shows up at any given event but the small group of friends that make up that group the activists can't really do anything they planned to do.

5. Each group promptly gives up as soon as they realize no one is going to show and they go and have social time instead. Dinner, bar, drum circle, smoke circle, game time, backyard party, stand around talking, etc. Whatever that group's thing to do for fun is.

Saw this play out for over a decade straight without fail every single year on May Day.

The only way the leftists will get people to show up for their mayday parades is to take over the country and make people show up like they did in Russia. Otherwise nobody cares about their silly holiday.
