There are some new tools that have essentially a tear drop on the end and you drop the fat part over the tick and slide the narrow part around the mouth and pop it off. can even use where you cant see. I havent personally used one but it seems sound enough.

Ok, so you're in a survival situation, in the deep woods with no lighter or means of heat (which makes you dead anyway) and you have a tick that you need to get out of you before you become sick with some disease...

Man up, pull out your knife, and dig it out.

:) My wife got a couple tics last time we went camping... Nail Polish remover dabbed onto them will make them release in seconds.. and you can keep a small quantity in your BOB as well

I don't worry about that , Garlic in the diet pretty much takes care of the problem.
When I came to take care of my dad his dog would get ticks and I simply added minced garlic to his food every day and the ticks would jump off and never reoccur.
A quarter teaspoon on a medium sized dog was enough @ each meal.
My own dog didn't like it initially but she has gotten use to it .
There are a lot worse things than garlic breath.
I dont eat it all the time but then I don't romp in the tall grasses either, unless I am hunting.

sorry usmc - that stuff makes the tick barf back into you and the risk of disease goes up from there

hey Boost - nothing to contribute? go to the next thread then
My intentions aren't to be hostile, but you seem to not understand the question you're asking.

You're around civilization? Hot water is an age-old proven technique.

You say you wont always have a shower, which means unless you live in a third world country, you're in the middle of the boondocks. Dig it out.

Very simple.

There's no super magical harry potter wand which can be found everywhere you go that will remove ticks. This is a simple task.
