I am looking for the best multitool you can buy for less than $100. Does anyone know of a good one? Also, what is the best multitool in the world in you opinion?

I would always buy a Leatherman Charge TTI instead of a wave. They are more or less the same, but the s30v steel is much better then steel in the wave. The only reason ton buy a wave is the fact that it's a little cheaper.

Personally I think the Victorinox Swiss tool Spirit Plus is a better multitool than any leatherman. However I carry a leatherman charge as edc, because the accessibility of the knife is much better (and that's the option I used the most). But if you back the multitool up with a knife/folder I think the Swisstool spirit plus beats the Leatherman.

But it doesn't matter much, you can't go wrong with a Leatherman either.

The one in your pocket when you need it most. Mine is a 20 year old Leatherman, don't know the name of it. I use it all the time. Blade stays pretty sharp too.

Your head.... maybe I'm just damn good and mechanical with a knife but I find multi-useless and heavy. Don't have any in my BOB... I do have one that was given to me in my camping bag which hold the stuff you want if you are staying put several months, not just bugging out.

in iraq i had my crew served weapons malfunction occasionally. i would go straight to the leatherman to get my weapon back on line. it just happened to have everything i needed so it stayed caribinered to my gun mount.

Another vote for the Surge, although I have about 6 different Leathermans, the Surge is a little heavy but has everything. I'll also suggest the Leatherman Sideclip if you can find one, a nice every day carry

The Surge and Wave are very similiar... and both top options. (I carry the earlier Wave pretty much everywhere, on duty or off.) Leatherman also makes a model with a vice-grips instead of the regular pliers... that extra gripping/holding/locking power makes the difference for some uses. I'd start by looking at those three, and deciding which has the best utility for you. Nothing beats full size, purpose built tools... be sure to work on that collection too.
