What should I get? I can legally carry anything folding as long as it is not assisted, auto, or gravity. NO SERRATED EDGES NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! Also, If the knife is waved I would prefer that.

Some choices I'm looking at, but not limited to:

Cold Steel AK47

Spyderco Delica FFG
Spyderco Endura FFG
Spyderco Manix 2
Spyderco Stretch
Spyderco Salt 1
Spyderco Pacific Salt

Benchmade Mini-Griptilian
Benchmade Griptilian

I'd go into a local shop/retailer and handle some after anybody suggests what to buy. You'll probably here a lot of great knives but make sure you handle them first before just buying them cause of the suggestions. With that being said, the knives you've mentioned in the original post are great. Good luck.

I've handled most of these.

As with most things in life, there is no "best". It's strictly a matter of preference. My particular favorite, and the knife I've carried daily since the company first opened, is the Spyderco Endura. I like its light weight and durable edge. It carries in my pocket in exactly the place where I can always get to it quickly. And best of all, it's faster opening than most other folders I've tried. I don't know why the other companies haven't picked up on that part yet. So for me, it's the "best". Your preferences may be different.

I've been carrying a Benchmade Griptilian for over 2 years. Nice knife, holds an edge well, medium size, excellent locking system and the blade is of a very functional shape. Definately worth the money.

Best around $25 to $30 - Ontario Rat 1 Folder, Spyderco Tenacious, Spyderco Persistence.

Best around $75 - Frankly I like my $30 knives just as much as my $75 knives. But I would look at Spyderco. They are my fave.

I have been impresssed recently with my Kershaw knifes Made in USA and great warranty, around $50.00 at Walmart, straight blade and mixed with serrations your choice. In my opinion equal to Buck quality. I have Benchmade and Spyderco while great knifes, the Kershaw will give them a run for the money.

+1 for the Benchmade Griptillian. Benchmade has proven year after year that they are top of the line in pocketknives and the Griptillian is simply a great knife.

By the way, Spydercos are great knives and I have several, but stay away from anything with "Salt" in the name. They use H1 steel which is highly rust resistant, but it will also go dull sitting on your shelf not doing anything. I have a Pacific Salt that I carried for about three weeks and it went dull as a doorknob in that time just with medium use.

Spyderco Military with half plain, half serrated blade is my Favorite. I have several and carry one everyday. My back up is a Spyderco Native.

I wouldnt worry that much about legality, that is if your only purpose is self defense where you will NEED the knife as soon as you can. For me I carry a CRKT M16-04z.
The flipper is really good, but make sure to oil it up with something. I found mine in the middle of the desert so I had to reprofile the blade and do some general maintenance but after that the knife has served me great. The blade is razor sharp, the pocket clip isnt bad, and the blade is quite large. Its a great box cutter as well. Just be careful flashing it around in public because it is an intimidating knife.

I have EDC'ed the CRKT M21 since I first laid eyes upon it. You can purchase one for $30-50 and is a great EDC folder. CRKT also makes several other folders of varying size and function included into the M series. M-16 is another great folder. They do have an M something or other that is called big dog something that is supposedly their military spec model. I have not handled one but it is deffinately worth looking into CRKT if you appreciate their steel and construction quality. And with your 75$ limit you could perhaps buy two, though you will only need one.
