i have a MAGNESIUM fire starter already..... was wondering whats the best "blastmatch" type fire starter as theres many like it on the market like "Swedish Firesteel" any help greatly appreciated

Its more simple and I'll take my chances on being able to use both hands in an emergency. I think the blast match is unnecessarily complicated... but thats just my opinion.

yeah i have plenty of bic lighters but eventually they will run out so i was thinking long term....anybody know of any other good ones besides swedish firesteel and blastmatch that are good?

Ferro rods, Blastmatch, titanium blocks and such will run out also. In fact, a Bic might have more starts in it in comparison.

Any good ferrocerium rod with a piece of hacksaw blade will make a great firestarter. I tend to like the Blastmatch myself, but the market is full of good alternatives.

There's something to be said for flint and steel too. The world is full of rocks that spark. But they take a lot more practice since the sparks are smaller and not as hot.

I purchased a acetylene torch sparker with extra flints. Should be good for 3-4 years. If the disaster goes longer than that I will probably die of old age.
