Oh and crude briefly fell under $40. Nearly every market across the globe ended down today. DOW, S&P and NASDAQ are all negative for the year now. Euro and Yen shorts are getting a trim.

 

Not to derail a good market correction thread but $40 oil used to equal $1.70 gas. Am currently paying $2.94. Someone is making bank.

 

I'm not well versed in derivatives and the effects of foreign competition on the markets, but when my local news station (which runs a weekly 2 hour show before each football game and then recaps it for 2 hours) actually spends five minutes on the stock market, well, I agree with AirborneEd about that flushing sound. Anything that makes them stop reporting on Hollywood bimbos and overpaid sports figures is probably a real deal.

 

It is now down 531 points for the week. I shudder to think what it will look like at the end of the day on September 14th.
