Would like to see on fly over the nothern hemisphere sometime... 7500 is getting close, but wasn't there also one awhile back that came even closer to us?

hmm. maybe i'm reading into it, but doesn't this sound slightly strange?

"According to NASA's Near-Earth Object Office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, Calif., an object of this size can be expected to come this close to Earth about every 6 years or so, on average."

then:

"The record is currently held by the asteroid 2011 CQ1, which came within 3,400 miles (5,471 kilometers) of Earth on Feb. 4 of this year."

I know, averages and all that, but two this close in less than a half year? It seems odd at least.

I want to see it skim our atmosphere. The light show would be amazing!!
I've been lucky enough to see one much smaller inter atmosphere "skippy" in broad daylight.

Small compared to an asteroid but still has a pucker factor when you see the flame/vapor trail and hear the roaring whoose it makes.
