When the shtf, what will groups that really despise democracy do? Will we see a sudden opportunistic rise in local governments based on theocratic principles or ethnic/racial purging? Note: the article talks about the 'violence-prone factions' and those on the fringe, not everybody of any particular political persuasion.

The Anti-democratic movement in America

The anti-democratic movement in America spans most of the Right, from the shrill demagogues on the fringe of the Republican Party through the violence-prone factions of the homophobic and anti-******** Christian Right, into the anti-environmentalist Wise Use Movement and over to the furthest reaches of the Racist Right of the Liberty Lobby and the white supremacist resurgence. These extremists drag with them a plethora of issues that appeal to the worst expression of the American political character -- lynch mobs and vigilante groups, the WASP Killer Elite -- angry white "Patriots" with guns.

There has been far too much emphasis on the colorful "militia movement." There is no militia movement. Intimidation by publicly promoting armed violence is not a movement -- it is a tactic.

There is an anti-democratic movement. It resulted from the convergence of the Christian Right and white supremacists. The Christian Right, a powerful political movement now suffering the moderation and institutionalization of success, is committed to replacing secular politics with theocracy. The white supremacists donated their long-standing commitment to indiscriminate mass murder.

These two extremist factions have found a way to "mainstream" their message by forming an alliance with the radical right wing of the political spectrum. Extremist movements gain power by two simultaneous tactics: the suppression of opposition and recruitment. The rise of the anti-democratic movement was accompanied by the suppression of responsible conservative factions, strident attacks on liberals and selective terrorism directed at ******** providers, environmentalists, immigrants and government employees. Disenfranchised and alienated white voters who feel cast aside from the national economy are the most fertile recruiting ground. These tactics have made bigotry, prejudice and fear the predominant issues on the national political scene.

That article seems to focus a lot on right wingers and totally ignore the fact that there are radical people on the left also, not to mention radicals who are of neither persuasion but will still be a huge threat.

What about eco-terrorist wackjobs who could use the situation to opportunistically seize power? If they can firebomb labs and place death threats why are they excluded from the list of post shtf threats?

Personally, I think the groups doing the biggest ethnic purging will be the 5000 -25000 member gangs who have automatic weapons etc...

You can't be &^%$#@! serious. The democrats have a socialist running for president. He has said publicly he want to penalize people who work hard and make a lot of money and give it to people who don't work hard and don't have much money. He has anti-democratic friends and is supportive of Venezuela and Hugo Chavez. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are nearly communists, and you say the anti-democratic movement is from the right? What pathetic propaganda.

hmm, what an unfortunate statement.
I don't know... I kinda like the fact that Obama is a socialist with radical friends. It make him less electable. Now, I do happen to agree there are some religious who want to turn the US unto a theocracy. They are on par with making those who want a gay nation and sex with teens.

What I think is more important than someone's ideas is how those ideas shape their lives. With the religious that means they raise families, go to church and try to lead a good life, with the gays it means get erections, go look for a butt to pound, and live the good life.

Thus I think, in behavior, conservatives are more wholesome... then again, ... I suppose one could also call the liberals holesome as well.

So what happens when there are church going people that want to have sex with kids. From an article I read today:

FOUKE, Ark. (Associated Press) -- Six children have been placed in temporary state custody as they are interviewed in the wake of a raid on a church compound as part of a child-porn investigation, Arkansas police said Sunday.

rest of the article here

Remember not all liberals are "holesome" remember those conservative politicians and ministers who got caught in a "hole" or trying to get in one.

I suspect that has something to do with folks in the Bible getting to "know" each other and married very young. You know.. good enough for Moses is good enough for me...

Are the incarcerated?? I'd say about 99%. Everyone finds God on the inside.
The percentage of atheists in the US is anyone's guess, between 8 and 16 percent is the usual range. In prison only one fifth of one percent claim to be atheists. I was always told that if you land in jail claim to be a strict Jew or Muslim, you get specially prepared meals that are of higher quality.

God,I am so tired of these liberals whining and bitching about racism.I am of Native American and Scottish descent and this crap pisses me off. Oh I am so pitiful someone owned my Great, Great, Great, Great, Grandfather. At least they were alive. A good chunk of my Great, Great, Great, Great, Kin weren't so lucky and I don't bitch about it 24/7. Another thing .My first White Ancestor in this country that we could find came over as an indentured servant. And a good many since were share croppers.(look those two up in your liberal reading).
The difference between you and I at base is I take Responsibility for myself and my actions. And I expect that of everyone else. I have yet to find a lib that could say the same.

Stating that the anti-democracy movement is coming from the right is the ABSOLUTE WORST attempt at spin I've ever seen. If you believe that, you're a joke and its time you wake up!!!!!

Famous Socialist:
Harry Reid
Nancy Pelosi
John Kerry
Ted Kennedy -well not for long :thumb:
C. Shumer
D. Feinstein
Carolyn McCarthy
Charles B. Rangel
Joseph Stalin
Adolf Hitler
Pol Pot

Speaking of Carolyn McArthy.....
Stupid liberals at their finest, trying to ban things they know nothing about... This video speaks volumes about the people (liberals) who want to regulate your life......
