AHEM......

From Wikipedia...

PeerGuardian and PeerGuardian 2 are free and open source programs developed by Phoenix Labs. They are capable of blocking incoming and outgoing connections based on IP blocklists. The system is also capable of blocking advertising, spyware, government and educational ranges, depending upon user preferences.

Peerguardian also will display a list that is constantly updated of the various entities that are trying to figure out what pages you are visiting, etc. I have it installed on my computer and am amazed at the increase in "hits" when I go to certain sites.

If I surf yahoo.com all day I might get one or two intrusion attempts in a 24 hour period.

Ill state this and leave it alone. You will be surprised to see how many intrusion attempts occur if you watch certain videos on youtube or visit some sites. Im not talking about bad sites. Im talking about sites like THIS ONE.

In the time it took to type this up, I have had 12 attempts.

YMMV

I agree with you on the second half of your statement, but saying you do not know and do not care?

You dont care that there are those who want to know what you do online, what sites you visit and what you download?

BTW our Constitution seems more and more like just a GD piece of paper everyday.

Yeah I think they're spying. The not so distant warrant-less wiretapping should have been a real heads up for people. Do I care? Yes I do. Am I hiding something? It's immaterial, I have the right to be left alone.

this is all for NOT soon to come is internet 2 where you will be offered a list of websites (like cable) that you will only beable go to unlimited times and if you want to outside the list it will cost you (alot) and they will beable to monitor every site you goto or look back atyour history.

you do know the internet is getting way to crowded and this will reduce the flow and if a merchant wants on the list they must pay (so that is even more money for the internet provider) and it will be safer for your kids, and the good news is the sheep will not beable to learn what the elite are truely doing. because they will not be allow to websites like this!!

I dl'd it to try. Lots of stuff was popping up almost instantly. Who knows though, it may actually be keeping better track of you while you think it's blocking stuff. Either way, they're bound to get bored with the porn sooner or later.

We are being spied upon but not by who you think. We are being spied upon by marketing and advertising agencies so that they can track purchasing records to get a bigger percentage of your dollars.

Don't believe me? Then the next time you buy something on ebay, count the offers you get for similar products.

It is not the government. Our government is not permitted to keep dossiers on citizens unless officially being investigated. Nope, the dossiers are kept by marketing and advertising groups as well as credit bureaus. However, the government is allowed to buy the information kept by them....

BTW--where can I buy that progam and whats the cost?

They are spying on the mass population to keep tabs on how we are responding to what they are doing. They want to know just how PO'd we are getting so they can decide when to go full tilt on us.

Marketing agencies, PR people and the govt. are all in the same bed. Spying is spying is spying. I don't fill out those little reward card thingy's that they hand out in stores for 'special' savings...for the reason that I know they're tracking my purchases and I'm aware that they sell my information to the govt.

A good example of how that system is used against us happened right here in my state a couple of months ago. I want to get my facts correct, but I'm just remembering some of the details off the top of my head. The US imports the lions share of rice from 5 countries. Three of those countries decided for various reason to cut back on the rice they were sending us. The shortages became apparent and people were going out and purchasing rice in large quantities. Costco decided to ration the rice based on the amount of rice their customers had purchased in the past. How did they get that information? They typed the customer's personal information from their Costco card that Costco had been saving in a database which keeps the records of everything that they had purchased. And guess what.....it was LEGAL.

Who else is privy to that information?....the govt. whether the information is handed over or sold.

no they are not! the main purpose of such programs was/is to block undesired peers like anti piracy agencies, people that share fake files, etc. You might get so many connections because internet is not centralized and to have an internet computers need to "communicate" from time to time. If you don't have a static IP then you might get an IP of a guy that has been using peer2peer a lot.
if you are worrying about spying on you, don't use gmail, clean all cookies from your browser, use firefox and linux :)

Yeah, I figure I am being watched but that's been going on for some time now. I have really nothing to hide, I don't have large numbers of guns or ammo stored, I don't routinely make anti-government comments, I'm actually pretty boring to watch, SO GO AHEAD GUYS! I have found tracking cookies on my computer and have had suspicious vehicles parked outside my house that I couldn't explain where they came from. Husband had a high level clearance before he retired from the Army, so I got used to knowing SOMEONE was watching us. I have nothing to hide, if they want me they know where to find me.......
