I have a friend getting me some HK sights. I don't like peep sights so I figured they were the next best thing.

Ill use these on the AR till I find a better notch rear set up. I only use the AR to screw off with any way.

Factory irons, either the carry handle or a detachable A2 type rear sight with the standard F marked front sight.

I don't have an AR yet,but sights should be the best that work for you. You may not like some sights, even if they are expensive,or "the best".

I suggest looking at lots of different ones, maybe some of your friends or some already mounted on rifles in the gun shop.

I'm not sure if tech sights make sights for the AR yet,but give them a look.

I used Troy Battle sights, love'em!!!!! Run around $250 for the set but worth every penny!!
Excellent sites. I prefer the HK style front that Troy offers. There are less expensive sites, sites that don't fold down (will you be using an optic?), but these are hard to beat.

Look into Midwest Industries fold-downs as well, a little less $ and good quality.

If you are going with an optic and intend it to be your primary, the Magpul MBUS sites work fine, weigh less and are half the cost. Site picture is fair, don't know how tough they'd be while in the up position.

Also watch for the height of the folded down site and that the optic you plan to use will clear it, example if you intend to use a scope. In that case look for off-set mounts that allow you to run even non-folding sites if that's what you prefer.

as close to A2 as possible IMO

i ONLY like irons, and i dont really like the flat tops because the sights can come loose. i like standard fixed sights and fixed carry handle

we shot that configuration out to 500 yards so its a proven combo and will never let you down

I have a Daniel Defense FCG in mine and it rocks...trigger as smooth as a prom queens thighs!:thumb::cool:
DD makes great parts, but an LPK that is mil-spec really is hit/miss on the smoothness. If you want to insure a smooth trigger and don't want to blow big bucks, ALG Defense. It's a mil-spec trigger that Geissele fluffs and buffs. Durable, reliable, much better than "stock".

You have a $45 and a $65 option, explained below:

I use a USGI Matech BUIS on my M4. It's the standard issue BUIS, and it's one of the few BUIS that is adjustable for elevation. The Matech is adjustable up to 600m.

Troy, Midwest and DD all make quality folding sights...

DD has folding sights? Link please.
Touché. That should have read "Troy, Midwest and DD all make quality back-up sights". We both know DD doesn't make folding sights. I shouldn't have lumped them into the same sentence as Troy and Midwest that do. Smartass... :thumb:
