With the recent crap about the owner of L L Bean giving money to the Trump campaign I was thinking about ordering a pair of their classic rubber bottom leather upper boots just to show my support for her. But I have never used their boots and wonder if they are really as good as some say.
I welcome your input. Thanks.

Three of us in our family have them, and I have a pair of the Storm Chasers, which is basically the same but insulated.
They're great, no issues and perfect for the snow and crappy weather. Mine are almost too warm sometimes, but if I'm our hunting they keep my feet warm and dry. Love that.

They're getting passed down kid to kid, and have held up fine. Admittedly we don't wear them as much as someone in Maine or Michigan might, but I'd buy another pair without hesitation.

My son has two pair and loves them; excellent quality. I'm now considering their waxed-canvas Maine hunting boot. They remind me of my old issued Jungle Boots. It sucks when politics tries to hurt quality businesses. I hated it even when conservatives talked poorly about Leatherman because the owner donated to his favored political party; and I'm a conservative. They make a great product and it's the individual, not the company. Same thing with LL Bean. If you can't separate the company from the citizen's freedom of expression you're a worthless, stupid little ideologue that needs to be punched in the mouth...(Seahawks are losing, I'm in a bad mood:D:)

Yes! Excellent boots. I have them in the 10" height and love them. Waterproof, great traction without deep treads that collect mud, comfortable. Pair them with some nice wool socks and they are great three season boots (not exactly summer boots).

Also have the shoe slip ons in that style, their Cresta Hikers, Upland Hunting boots, a couple packs, some clothes/jackets.....all great stuff and worth every penny.

I have always had them...since the 1960's, they will replace bottoms for nominal fee when they "wear out"...which takes forever...that maintains warranty...normal wear is not a warranty...but cutting through, eyelets, leather wear, cracking of rubber or leather is...

However, the "Maine Hunting Shoe", as they were originally called, a few years ago, was replaced and renamed the "The Bean Boot", to placate people who objected to the word "hunting" and be more politically correct...there were many who did not buy the boots, because they had the word "hunting" on them...this was a board decision...

I had to add orthotics to them and different insoles because of foot my problems, because, even though they lace lace up tight, ankle stability is not what I need...but if your ankles are good they are great boots. Still, Hand made in the USA, Maine...

I live in Mass and have been to the Maine l l Bean Store itself and also have several outlet stores in NH and Mass near me . Their boots the leather top rubber bottom are made tough and have stood up to many hunting and winter trips I do I have used them up at my camp in the mountains of NH and around the farm any wear I need good protection and weather proofing. FWIW, Linda Bean-Jones was a golddigger who married into the family. She was also my 2nd grade teacher. That being said, I really don't buy into politics dictating what I buy unless the politics of the company are truly heinous. Any product that I buy is based on quality and function.

Bean Boots have gone up in price tremendously since the last pair that I had, however they are certainly consistent in their function, quality, and guarantee. They're great for walking around in marshes, bog and forest floors during the fall and spring mud season, as well as decent for keeping your feet dry during the winter.

Bought a set of 6" tall slipon insulated boots in 1990...they are on their last set of replacement bottoms as Beans can only replace them three times. Doesn't matter anyway as the lining is about worn out...these have been my most worn shoes of all time....

Also have a 12" uninsulated, 10" GoreTec/Thinsulite insulated and just bought a 6" laceup set to replace the 6" slipons...

You won't be disappointed...

Yes, they are excellent boots. LL Bean makes good gear in general, so it's hard to go wrong with their products.

I've used L.L. Bean boots daily for over 30 years. When they wear out Bean will repair or replace them (depending on the warranty). I use their slip on style for doing quick chores and they've been re-soled several times. They replaced them the last time as I'd finally wore the uppers out. Great boots.

Oh, their boots are top quality to be sure ! I wear regularly a pair that have been in service for 20+ years. Getting expensive, tho, like everything else in our consumerist world.
My only objection to Bean's business profile is that everything else in their mag is of foreign import.

Knockoff

Don't buy the knockoffs put out by the big hunting chain. Terrible tried the no lace 8in height, really tough to get feet in with hvy. socks. Went back to Beans and lace ups, just loose tyed. The sale was no sale for me.
