The new chicken house is getting close to being finished. The next phase is a lean-to and solar power. The solar panel will go in top of the lean-to.

I want something that can provide lights, and maybe run a skilsaw or drill.

What size solar cell, how many batteries, what size inverter should I go with?

Great question. This is exactly what I want to do when I convert my old shed into a chicken coop.

I run a 14 x 14 potting shed/greenhouse off grid. It also runs my wood furnace. Works well unless we have 3-4 days of overcast

I have a 40x40 pig barn i run area lights and a couple recepticals (sp) and a electric fence off of solar. 150 watt panel, 2 sams 6v batteries, cheap a$$ 2kw inverter (need to upgrade) and a sun control charge controller. Was not cheap but cheaper than running copper that far.

Most of the time it works great. I run 15w LED area lights (4), 12v electric fence and a bug zapper in the summer. Have a place to plug in drill or radio or whatever.

I am happy with it
