I got to agree, if you gave me the choose between a can of fish bait and old Nam issue green ham and eggs well the green ham and eggs would win hands down.:(

A can of sardines, the best deal on earth, inexpensive and excellent for you.

I like to make two pieces of toast, load them up with copped onions, put half a can of sardines on each, slather with mustard and enjoy.

Eat them on hard tack with a bit of cream cheese [the 1/3 less fat stuff which is sometimes sold as Neufchatel is every bit as tasty and spreads easier, too. Why ruin a good sardine by cooking it with pasta?

I usually get the cans that are already flavored. Hot sauce, mustard, lemon pepper and tomato basil are the four most common varieties I buy. I put them on crackers and enjoy.

I guess you could try some recipes that you like and just alter them to include the sardines. Maybe a Seafood bisque would work,..I may have to attempt that one.
