I would really like a modular shelter where I can store some food, blankets, water, and build some bunks into one. I think one of the large versions would allow me to sleep 4+ adults comfortably and still build shelves inside.

Thoughts? Experience?

These remind me of a similar unit years back. I think it was called "The Pod". It was fairly inexpensive too. I was considering buying one as an instant root cellar. Most of the others were considerably overpriced in comparison. Which is pretty normal for anything catering to the survivalist community.

Most of those are too small for anything other than a short term tornado or storm shelter, or a small root cellar if you don't have a lot to store. Some of the larger, better designed ones I've seen were made of length of large diameter culvert. Now that's a way to get some serious space without a lot of investment.
