Some good stuff, but I'm still leery of the NRA because some of their past betrayal. Plus, it is my belief that we were meant to have military arms of the day, not just "civilian" firearms. When they start pushing for repeal of the National Firearms Act and Gun Control Act, I'll start looking at giving them my money again.

‪NRA's Wayne LaPierre Delivers Remarks at the United Nations‬‏ - YouTube

We usually agree, the NRA depends on support from it's members,In Indiana we have some of the best gun laws in the country because we support the NRA ,go next door to Illinois? It's more state than National.

Most people here support the NRA,some guy bitch'in about getting a Chinese knife from them was here a while back, turned ou he owned a Glock!
I'm confused. Can you elaborate some? I'm missing something. Is this an inside joke? Thanks.

We usually agree, the NRA depends on support from it's members,In Indiana we have some of the best gun laws in the country because we support the NRA ,go next door to Illinois? It's more state than National.
I agree, we usually do. :) And we still do, they do good work, but they don't push back hard enough in my opinion. They seem to only support firearms for hunting and self defense. I believe the 2nd Amendment was meant to be a deterrent against tyranny. Just look how the government is crazy with power since the citizens are limited to hunting and self defense weapons. It's a tough issue to trust citizens with that kind of power, especially since we've developed weapons they never dreamed of when the Constitution was written(and I'm willing to live with some restrictions, like no chemical or biological weapons). But in the world of politics today, you have to demand machine guns if you want semi-automatics. I demand a M134! :D:

If the NRA was hurting, I'd send them money, but I believe local organizations like Georgia Carry need my support more right now. When the friends of the NRA are putting on dinners offering "Platinum Level Tables - $10,000 Sponsorhip", I think their doing alright enough without me. If they want me back, they just need to push for some repeals of the things in the NFA and GCA that would be easy to get back(silencers, sawed off shotguns, SBR's without the tax stamp would be a great start). They need to be taking back an inch at a time, grinding away just like the anti's do.

I like every part of the video's message.

If any of you fine folks have a YouTube account and want to share the video with other YouTubers don't forget to rate the video so your subscribers and friends find it on their YouTube home page. You may have to click the "watch on Youtube button to get the thumbs buttons to rate it.

A lot of people check their "home page" to see what's new with their friends and subscribers and that's where anything that you rate shows up.

Ill write this again, when they send me a letter apologizing for the letter they sent me in Iraq calling me a bad american for not re-upping my membership, ill think of giving them money.

they are a one issue organization, and while i agree with their stance, i dont necessarily think that they are doing all they can.

and when wayne gets off is a$$ and states that the 2nd amendment was to prevent the Gov from getting out of hand ill support him.

The biggest thing I dislike about the NRA is that it is a huge lobbyist group, and I distrust lobbyist groups of all stripes because of the money and power they wield. I think that large amounts of money injected into our political system can easily subvert the will of the people. That being said, I am a lifetime member because the Second Amendment is probably my #1 issue. I don't care about ********, gay marriage, prayer in school, or legalization of drugs...at least not anywhere near the level I care about our right to bear arms. That right is what preserves our nation, and will keep it from becoming like so many other tyrannical states in the past, present, and future which are/were controlled by the military, royalty, dictators, and various religious demagogues.

I support the NRA because gun owners are the minority, and our rights would be obliterated by the ignorant, fearful, and apathetic if there wasn't a strong organization to protect them.

This is a nice speech that Wayne gave--and it all boils down to nothing.
Where's the 10,000 NRA members outside protesting, shouting and jeering?!!

Answer: they're nowhere to be seen.

And giving a speech to the UN?!!
Are you kidding me?!!
You might at well give a speech in front of the chimpanzee enclosure at the NY zoo.

When it comes to ineffective PR--the NRA takes the cake.
They get the gold medal.

When that "open carry" rally was held on the Potomac in VA a couple years back--where was the NRA asking its members to come out in a show of force?!

Answer: they dropped the ball.

Yeah they have a good legal division... the ILA, but apart from this, it all falls apart.

They are too busy looking "respectable" and wanting to seem "mainstream" and nice and goody--goody, when they should be out there using the huge NRA membership (all radical and willing to do something) and making protest headlines.

But nooooo!

I am not against the NRA, I am against Wayne LaPierre. I saw Sarah Brady hand him his ass in a debate and I lost all respect for him. He just sat there with his mouth hanging open as she spit forth all of the anti-gun crap he should have been able to counter with ease. As soon as he is gone I will re-join the NRA but, until then I will send my money to other areas and get way more (pardon the pun) "Bang for the Buck".

Be well all.

This video is suspicious. How do you know he is delivering it anyone...? Seems like you'd have to take it on faith. The NRA, while seemingly honorable, is now a self serving organization that has let its size get in the way of its goal. This video is an example of just that. There is noting to me in this video that suggests that this guy is speaking to anything more than a camera and an to the eager ears of NRA members who wonder where their NRA dollars are going.

Good thing I'm not here to make friends..

The NRA is a bunch of back-stabbing traitors to the Second Amendment and to the American people!! They're selling us out, slowly but surely!! If you want to stand up for our God-given right to bear arms and be able to defend ourselves again the brown shirts, then support the National Association for Gun Rights!! http://www.nationalgunrights.org/ If you're in Colorado, then support Rocky Mountain Gun Owners! http://www.rmgo.org/ These organizations have done more to protect our 2nd Amendment rights than the NRA ever has.

There can be NO COMPROMISE on these issues! Those of you who say, "Oh, well, I guess it makes sense to have background checks, we don't want criminals to have guns," or "Yeah, people should have to have a license to carry, the police should know who is carrying a gun," or "No, guns shouldn't be allowed on campuses and in schools, we want our kids to be safe," you people are the willingly ignorant, hard-headed, illogical, mindless idiots who are willing to give up liberty for a little PERCEIVED security. "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin

It's small things like this that chip away at our freedoms, bit by bit. Each one is a step deeper into the dungeon of servitude to the political masters :whip:. One day you'll wake up, bound in chains, and wonder how you got to such a state. The NRA are masters at pretending to fight the good fight, masters at feigning battle for your rights, and they pretend to fight for so long, then say, "Sorry, but we had to compromise. We couldn't fight the Brady Bunch any longer. We had to make just this ONE cessation..." And so it goes.

As Samuel Adams said, "If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." Go ahead and let the NRA feed you their lies and propaganda. I for one will bite any hand that tries to feed me anything. I am my own man; I hunt my own food; I make my own way in this world, and always will.

I don't mean to insult every NRA member. I know many NRA members. Some of you, my brother, my friends, are well meaning I'm sure, but you are ignorant of the facts. For some, this is because you choose to be ignorant, just like the rest of the sheeple  in America. You don't want to hear the truth because the truth sucks. The truth has always hurt. You salve your conscious by writing a check to the NRA every so often, and tell yourself you're making a difference, and that everything will be ok, the NRA is fighting for your beliefs. Wake up and smell the bullsh!t. Do the research. Don't listen to the MSM. Get outside opinions. Don't let the liberals convince you they're scared of the NRA. They're not. The people in power are ALL about disarming us and making us their slaves in socialist amerika, where they, the elite, rule with an iron fist.

I have more to say, but for now I will end with this:

James Madison's appointee to the Supreme Court, Justice Joseph Story, wrote in his 1833 "Commentaries on the Constitution, "The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them."

No gun rights organization is perfect.

Wasting our time and denigrating fellow gun rights activists does NOTHING to further our cause.

Tell me about the NAGR's training division. Tell me about their lobbying division. Tell me about their education division.

Oh, that's right. That's the NRA that has all of the above.

No, the NRA-ILA does screw up from time to time, but at least here in IL they are doing a great job beating back the antis (which have nearly over-run us several times in the last twenty years) and this year darn near got a RTC bill through.

Nobody's perfect...

And if you let perfect get in the way of good enough, you won't have either.

When the NRA repairs the damage they did back in the 90's compromising our Right away, then goes the extra step of earning my trust back, I will stop being anti-NRA.

Just a reminder for you NRA lovers...

The Second is NOT about target shooting...
The Second is NOT about hunting...
The Second is NOT about self-defense...

The Second Amendment IS about resisting tyranny!

ETA: Before anyone even tries it; the NRA wanted nothing to do with neither the Heller nor McDonald cases until it looked like there could be a win at which time they jumped on the band wagon then tried to take credit.

The NRA is still using lies to promote gun ownership. Do a fact check about there political comments and you will be ashamed. I am sorry lieing about things for politics corrupts your argument and is why politicians aren't trusted. The NRA does it and now it looks bad for all gun owners........

#26 ·
This sounds like the arguments before the 2008 election,Mccain was picked apart and many voters stayed home.................thus Obama
Picking the NRA apart for a few points...................**** Durbin gets his gun control agenda passed modeled after Chicago.

The NRA is the only friend we have to fight the huge lobby groups that want our guns.

We vote every 4 years, antigun lobbys work 365/24

I was a member of the NRA years ago because I felt it was important to protect our rights, but eventually became dissatisfied with them.

I have been following the SAF with great interest. They have won an impressive amount of court cases and seam to be more effective than the NRA.

#35 ·
The SAF has done wonderful things with Heller, McDonald and they've got another half-dozen cases cooking that have the potential to be similar landmark cases.

And yes, the NRA has tried to claim credit on Heller and McDonald, but their position was minimal compared to Gura and the SAF.

I support the GOA.

I left the NRA because they pander our rights away. A good number of the board are what I call "Fud's". They're all about hunting and have no interest in military style rifles.

They were behind the NFA of 1934 and the GCA of 1968. They stood idly by as Reagan banned machine guns. They opposed the single most significant court case in US history regarding gun rights - D.C. vs. Heller - and did everything they could to get it thrown out of court. If it weren't for that major court victory, Obama's crew would have had a field day with our rights. That set them back and made the whole topic of gun laws political suicide... and the NRA opposed it with everything they had.

No thanks.

I'll leave you with this gem... which is a reflection of how many NRA board members think.
