if you don't know about it, a whole lot of excellent information on small light stoves, alcohol stoves, solid fuel, solar, and others. the site has info including how to make your own, pros and cons of different stoves, all sorts of options, the site has plans and diagrams and is pretty useful if you are into that sort of thing.

pretty much anything you want to know about stoves is on this site. great for understanding stoves and making your own.

I have what apppear to be kerosene stoves , I'm just a little hesitant to use them because the smoke would tant the food .
I have an alcohol stove, ment for a sail boat as well , when the other fuels run out alcohol can "still" be made .
I also have the coleman gas stoves which work no question ,but gas is going to be more important for the generator .
Soon I want to learn the expiriment again making methane gas . It"s not hard, and I have some of the componants , but my brother has the tank I need for the project .
It's a 10 gal.stainless steel swimming pool filter .

Arleigh,
A properly maintained kerosene heater/wick will not smoke. And you don't cook meat directly over the kerosene flame anyway. You cook inside a pan or pot.
