You will likely not notice any difference in perceived recoil with no slant brake and just a muzzle nut vs. the slant brake. The AK74 style brakes are much more effective as an actual brake. If you desire flash supression, your best bet is a Smith Enterprises flash eliminator style unit IMHO...
