Not everyone who preps is a "doomsday" prepper. I think any rational person who saw what happened during Katrina would have realised that they need to have a way of surviving in a collapse of order or a natural disaster. They always pick someone who buys into some "doomsday" scenario because it's more interesting to watch I guess.

The only problem though is that first family, and the ONE thing any prepper should know OPSEC.. This guy has done ALL the opposite!! Going on national TV, having his family/friends/neighbors over to see all they have. What does he think will happen if something does go wrong in 2012?? His whole damn neighborhood will come knocking on his doors!
I honestly don't think he'd be able to survive that long anyways, being he has broadcast his preps to the whole world!

Excellent video! I learned from every scenario and see things i need to improve on myself. One question I hope someone here can answer. The first family was showing off their guest room with gas masks and provisions. The father held a bag of some kind of powder that would stop the bleeding if anyone got shot. Can anyone identify what this powder was? I thought he said Waglid or something like that? Forgive me, the speaker on my netbook isnt very loud or clear! Thanks for sharing too!! :thumb:

It was probally Quik Clot or it's competitor, can't remember the name of the other one out there. Instead of the powder they now recommend the dressing impregnated with the agent instead so it doesn't get into your circulatory system.

Interesting video. Ist couple in Arizona interesting to me. I love the garden and fish set up. The analysis in letting the neighbors out of the loop is 100% correct as well. The storage room out in the open is to me not wise. But with that fish pond, hes' pretty much out in the publoic.
Second family seemed more like mine. My garden will neve be 100% self sufficient. We will rely much on rice, wheat, pasta for a base. We do not store gold. I think comment was dead on re: ability to evac.
Third family, retreat group? That to me was pure fantasy. Unlike the first 2, they have really given up a traditional lifestyle.
I love the comment "Great, more crazy American's".

Haha! Its called I actually have a life and work, fiance etc and cannot be on this website 24/7 like some people.. So because I wasn't able to see that a thread was made informing us that this show would be on, you have to go and make a post about how I should have seen it? lOl your ridiculous

I'm not not here 24/7 but I can read past page one or even three pages worth, cause BOB/packs/help with new pack posts have pushed important threads off page one.
I also get a thing called the "TV Guide" in the mail.
It let's me know what's on for the next week or two.

Please define traditional lifestyle? I am not nearly as prepared as any of them but being a survivalist IS a way of life. We don’t just stock food, we currently live of our stores because it’s cheaper…being prepared is just a bonus. Same goes with being a hunter, the skills just happen to be applicable outside of today’s needs.
Not everyone wants to live in a city, I personally hate large cities. The general attitude and the way someone can treat their fellow man is sickening. Last time I visited a metro area my friendly wave was returned by obscene language and gestures...try dialing a wrong # to someone in the north eastern states.
Fantasy= "Noun: The faculty or activity of imagining things that are impossible or improbable.
Verb: Imagine the occurrence of; fantasize about."
I applaud them for having the forethought to put the group together but just because they have the resources to do so it does not make it a bad thing...and I am assuming you meant "fantasy" in a bad way by the way you used it? Perhaps fantasy is the wrong word, i dont think anybody serious about prepping is hoping for any bad situation.
