So I came across a pretty good deal from this guy I work with. He had 250 rounds of 9mm ammo that is about 15 years old. Got a killer price on the five boxes of it....$5 a box.

Ammo all looked good....but when I got it home, I found that one of the boxes is actually marked 9x21MM, and all the cases in that box are stamped 9x21mm. All the other boxes are 9x19mm and look to be some great ammo. Still a good deal and I would do it again.

Questions is, because I am 99.9% sure I would never try (nor have too) to shoot these out of my G19, G17 or 92fs. Should I save the rounds for the components? Are there any pistols out there that shoot this? (not that I would go out and by one just for that) Just wanting some general info on it and see what you all think. I'm thinking it should go into my "Only break in case of emergency" ammo bin, where I keep rounds for firearms I don't have, or questionable reloads I have picked up over the years.

Thank in advance

Doesn't matter, it won't fit in a 9x19 anyway.

OAL is the same, but they headspace off the case.

There are pistols that fire it, mostly race guns. There were also some Uzi's imported that fire it. Last time I saw one of those was 1987.

I had a friend who hated 9mm, but loved 9x21. He claimed that with his handloads he was getting higher velocities than 357.

I may be wrong but 9x21 shouldn't even chamber in a 9x18 pistol, since 9mm headspaces off the mouth of the case.

If you are in Italy and buy factory 9x21 ammo, it is the same as 9x19.
If you are in the US, it gets loaded to .38 Super and beyond levels.
You can trim the cases to 9x19 and have some cases that actually headspace on the case mouth and not the extractor.
