Do you have a problem with gays? Do you think that there are no gay survivalists?
Do I have a problem with gays, no, my 24yr old nephew is gay.

I have a "problem" with stupid macho images. Putin doesn't even hold his fishing rod properly, you can tell he hardly ever fishes.

I thought what the Queen did was the right thing to do. Consider the words of your anthem and how anti-British they are, yet she asked for the band to play nonetheless.

Hey, you played the homophobia card, not I. Sure... your nephew is gay... and you're not racist, you have "lots of black friends"

And what does this have to do with your rampant homophobia?

I said it was a well-intentioned gesture (I guess reading comprehension is not a requirement for staff around here) but that was one of the most gawdawful renditions of our anthem I have ever heard. Even Simon Cowell would have called that for the dreadful tripe that it was.

Perhaps you would prefer this video from late November 2001?
After the video was filmed and under extreme fire, 4 of these British SBS soldiers went into the fort, and retrieved the body of CIA agent Johnny Spann.

Perhaps this has been done before in history, perhaps it is novel. But the best way to make a foreign royal band play one's national anthem is to invade them. This given, it seems OTT to go so far. Another pro US speech should suffice!

I never realised that was Putin in the avatar. Hilarious. I read he darted a tiger the other day, probably a propaganda stunt but a pretty cool one anyway.

I have a Japanese wife.

He's full of muscles, posing and obviously doesn't know how to hold a fishing rod naturally
I said it was a well-intentioned gesture (I guess reading comprehension is not a requirement for staff around here) Probably not, I worked as an English teacher in Japan and a teaching assistant in England.but that was one of the most gawdawful renditions of our anthem I have ever heard.
I guess they only rehearsed it once before playing it. Even Simon Cowell would have called that for the dreadful tripe that it was.I'm not surprised you've heard of Simon Cowell, he's a cock as well:thumb:.

Please define how this video is relevant to the two topics you raised in this thread: Brits can't read sheet music and your overcompensation.

I thought it was a very nice gesture from the Queen.

I would like to know how the words to "The Star Spangled Banner" are anti-British though?

The Star Spangled Banner
By Francis Scott Key 1814

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I wish that tiger had bitten his ass, but it had probably been darted to slow it down before he turned up.

Yes that's Putin, he put those pictures out maybe a year ago.

Come one mate, thousands of Yanks were stuck in Britain worried and wanting to get home to family.

I wasn't brought up a Royalist but what the old lady did was  in my book.
