Anyone use Ammoman? That's where I've been getting ammo lately. He had odds and ends, sometimes one thing and not another, but free shipping, no sales tax, and reasonable prices. I just stocked a thousand rounds of Wolf 7.62x39 a few months ago for $239, I think.

I've noticed that all (at least all I've seen) of the Rusky steel-cased x39 ammo that's been coming around this past year doesn't have any sealant around the primer and projectile.Probably not a big deal since we're not living in the jungle and crossing rivers in our skivies, but I'm still curious about why they changed.

Good price, shoots about like Wolf. Lately I have been using Yugo 123gr. It shoots great, $249 in wooden crate for 1260rds.

They changed from a laquor to a polymer coat not sure why...Some say laquor is better..But like you say i have heard some bullets are not coated at all..Maybe factory military rejects...I have several thousand rounds of Brown Bear laquor coated and never a problem....

I dont know about the primer and bullet sealing part of it, but the polymer stuff helps prevent chamber gumming from running the rifle hot. The laquers gets cooked. Every now and then, just use some sort of solvent and a 45 cal brush on the chamber. I bought a used SKS that had cycling issues due to this. I brush it out every 400-500 rounds good no matter what I use in it.

No,bro, I'm talking about the "sealant" around the primer, and where the bullet meets the case. If you look at older ammo, there's this red or purple stuff there that is very noticable. I've gotten both Wolf and Brown Bear in the past year that don't have it anymore. Though some retailers photos still show it, some now show the ammo without it. Just wondering what's up.

Wolf is made at Tula Cartridge Works, so it is the same.

This however is not a good deal.

JG Sales has Yugo 1260-round cases for $199.

Thats 15 cents a round... Why order Tula when you could have good ammo for much less???:thumb:

+Shipping, unless you pick it up in Prescott, AZ, then there is tax . . . since I live in AZ I pay tax and shipping, comes out to about $0.19

Case $199.71
Shipping $26.76
Tax $16.68
Total $243.15

$243.15 divided by 1260 rounds is $0.19297619 each. If you live in another state there will be no tax, but probably more shipping . . .
