This is something I did up today. My goal was to figure out the best way to get 2000 calories a day in basic food staples. This is meant as a means of survival not as a gourmet diet plan. However, if you were to add other things to it such as canned fruits and veggies, you are on your way. I managed to get it around 580 dollars for one person, for one year. With some wiggle room. Technically, at that price point you are getting 2600 calories a day, one year. But I did not include the calorie count for both the pancake mix and oats, however I did include them into the cost for the entire year. Hope this gets someone doing some math.

The prices are based on either walmart.com or samsclub.com

That chart is a great idea Chumli. I need to weigh my LTS, I really have no idea how many pounds of what is in each bucket.

My son has a wheat problem so my plan (if LTS is ever needed) is to add a can of something to a grain for main meals. Rice, corn, oats and beans are my main stores. I also have honey bees so we're set on sweets. Give me a year without chocolate though, and I might be willing to part with a lot of honey. :D:

It's not the wrong forum. I totaled up the cost. It's the cost of 2,000 calories a day for one year. I'm not making a chart based on how many cans of beans you should put away for one person. I'm giving a cost to those 2,000 calories with a daily ration. Hence, the financial forum.
