2" 12 ga shotgun shell for HD

Does anyone have any experience with these?

http://www.polywad.com/doublewide.html

According to the site, it is a 12 ga. shotshell that is 2" long. It sports 2 1/4 dram equiv and a 7/8 oz shot load of #8.

Besides the overall length being 2", it boasts a pattern that is 2-3 times bigger than the spreader load that the same company makes. This combination sounds interesting to me for a HD load as it would be a low penetration, high round load that would spread out quickly.

Any thoughts? - besides those that swear by the 00 buck or #4 buck thought processes.

The 2" or 2½" shell is for older English double barrel, mainly SxS, shotguns who had chambers that small...You'll see them used at "Vintager" shoots around the country.

Says so right in the company's write up on the product:
Our Vintager shell now has a companion shell called the DoubleWide Shotgun Shell. This shell has Vintager pressure and payload WITH Spred-R dispersion. DoubleWides produce a pattern two to three times larger than the Vintager. This 2-1/2" (or 2") shell is available in 12, 16 and 20 gauge. Available in #8 shot ONLY. Recommended for clays and smaller upland birds. Will not cycle most autoloader shotguns.
The spreader is to accommodate the usually very tight chokes found on English guns.

#8 is bloody well the absolutely worst loading you could possibly ever choose for a P/HD situation...No, I'm wrong #11 or #12 would be!

As far as being shot by a 12 ga at 15' or less, with #8 shot, I don't think many people would walk away after being hit with a few rounds at that distance.
Remember what Cheney did and with what?

op have you looked at Box of Truth.

You really think that a ⅞ oz load at 1,200 fps is going to perform that much less then a 1 oz load at 1,200 fps would at 15'.

The guy got shot in the head and face and walked out on his own.
