Why don't you #10 can them? Or Mylar bag them.

Sure they are "going bad" now, but as soon as they are sealed, they will be just as almost fresh 20 years from now as they are now.

will probably just leve em in the can for a buck I just cant see passing em up even if they last 3 yrs, which im sure they will, im not sure we have that long left:(
If you can get 3 years out of them, you're probably setting a record. But I would buy them up like mad and just consider them a high rotation item.

It is the oil in them right? That makes them go bad... just like brown rice?
Exactly, and their oils are of the more fragile nature. Some oils store better than others. Nut oils don't store well in general.

Almonds seem to keep pretty well though. I don't know if that has to do with their oil itself, or perhaps how it's encapsulated in the nut. Perhaps in "cells" that don't allow much O2 to penetrate them? Strictly speculation on my part.

I have been getting cans of nuts on clearance at walgreens for like .75-1.00
where else can you get 1800 calories for .75? nowhere that im aware of I realize they wont last forever but hey for a buck who cares
I can do better:

2500 calories for $1.00.....A double cheeseburger at McDonalds. :D:

Ah man, hanging out at the Darkside has so corrupted me. ;) :D:

Seriously though, I agree with MikeK: nuts are great but they don't have that wonderful of a shelf life. They go rancid in 6-7 months if they are not refrigerated due to the high fat content in them.
