Holy smokes $75.00 for shipping?

 

Well if its full insured that would almost be right. But for me 100 onces is to much in one peice. For that amount you can use a couple gold peices and its easier to carry. I like my siver for small change up to morgan and peace dollars. Gold for over that.

 

when i bid on something i really dont care what the seller sets his shipping at, im going to bid accordingly. there is nothing you can do if buying from a seller thats trying to sell a buy it now item with high shipping

 

That's how I am too so I didn't think about it. I didn't bother calculating what it would cost to ship, insure, delivery confirmation, etc. so i just set it high enough to cover it and figured people would adjust their bids accordingly.

(I could set shipping at $1000 and the bar would still sell, for probably the same amount total. Or conversely, I could put shipping at $0 and get higher bids. Either way, it probably won't get me more or less profit. I honestly didn't put much though into it. I saw others listed with $75 shipping so I made mine that way too, just in case the insurance was expensive or something)

I was going to lower it just to not p1ss anybody off, but I don't think I can now that the item has bids on it.

 

Ship it first class USPS with insurance and save 50% but most want to make more profit with inflated shipping prices.

ebay gets a % of the selling price, a % shipping amount charged, and then paypal (an ebay company) charges a fee for the amount paid.

humungus, after it sells, maybe you can share how much your total fees are for this one item.



ebay used to be a good place to buy and sell. IMO even though i still sell there, it is a better place for buyers then sellers these days.

Humungus this is spam. Your listing is on "ebay" you get million of views and you come here for a few more? If this was a person to person sale i would understand buts its ebay. I sell tons of stuff on ebay, I dont come here every time i have a holster for sale or when i sold some rolls of morgans last week.

I'm a dufus when it comes to the ebay bidding process.

I see under the bids that 'automatic (proxy bids) are being placed by e-bay on behalf of the seller'.... Is e-bay itself bidding on this item? Every time there is a customer bid, the e-bay proxy bid jacks it up $25-50bucks. WTF?

never mind. I read the more info and it's just bidder's that set a high limit and the thing does it automatic.

I bought 10 sets of five of the 2011 silver eagles before they sold out. paid $1.5K for 25 coins. I see they are going on e-bay for $500 more as I type.

Ya'll think they'll hold that value? Go up? Go down? Some hysteria priced in?

 

So, you got 10 sets of five coins? That would = 50 coins/oz at $30/oz. Great deal, IMO

25 coins for $1500 = $60/oz. Not so good!

Why are people harping on the guy? He is free to sell for any price he wants if someone will pay it.

 

And we are free to harp on any deal, good or bad. Haggling and harping is par for the course. I'll pay $75 shipping for something the size of a bicycle or larger. Anything smaller is probably fee evasion on the part of the seller and will raise my antenna.

 

Why don't you just sell it back to APMEX??

They have a listed "Buy" price of $3,561. You mentioned in your add you still have the APMEX original box, so why don't you just sell it back to them and pocket the spread? Over $500 more than your current bid. Just curious as to why you're going to all the trouble for less money.

Its going to sell for around 3,600 to 4000. This is the going price depending on the spot of the day.. It might still be a good idea as he is going to have to pay 25%-30% to ebay and paypal.

You did great Txflyboy.These sets will be going for over a 1500.00 a set by Christmas maybe more.Someone on E-BAY paid 3,4000 for one set. Another guy paid 3,500.00 for 5 sets.Do you want to sell your sets ? Some people believe 3000.00 a set is possible.

I wish you the best of luck in getting your 10 sets. I have a funny feeling your not going to get them because you screwed up your order by using your wife's credit card.My wife got through and wanted to order another 5 sets and I stopped her. Her credit card has the same address as me.What I've read on the Kitco forum is they were looking for people doing this and in the past they just canceled the complete order.

I think you should call them and tell them you didn't know your wife but in a order. Maybe they will let you slide.If they catch this you will loose the complete order.You are not losing anything since your cards have not been charged yet.

Who knows maybe you might get away with it.I don't think I would want to chance this.The two coins in this set are going to be very rare and very valuable.Check you e-mail on the two orders. They will find this mistake when they go to bill your cards. They have not done that yet.

Next time use other people to get other sets like I do.I have 15 sets coming if my friends don't screw me around and decide to keep them for themselves. I didn't tell them that they are worth more lol.I'm going to give them 100.00 bucks for the use of there card.
