I think it's important as a prepper to be as physically fit as possible. I also think it's important to be competitive as it brings out the best in us. So with that in mind I want to post your best 1 mile time what age and what weight you were when you ran it.

29 years old 225lbs 6:30 seconds

Would love to run a sub 6 one day not sure if it's possible but I'm better for trying !

I went from 20 minutes a kilometer in the snow in a crappy wheelchair at the VA that pulled hard to the right down about 6 minutes without the snow; in about 3.5 weeks. I worked up to about 90 minutes straight.
Respect, there's always a way to work out I have worked out through some real injuries over the years if you want it there's usually a way.

12.5 minutes. My best score for the 3 mile with a 45 pound pack test ( 37.5 minutes total). This year ( approaching 50) I shot for passing (45 minutes) and did it. Never timed my self running. Just something we had to do in less than X. Can’t have been below 6 min ever. I’m to big to want to destroy my knees running now. Climb stairs, walk or do an elipitical. 18 flights of stairs kicked my butt twice a day last week,

5:20 is smoking fast that's a feat for sure!
LOL, I ran track in high school. We won the state championship track meet my senior year. Normally I ran the 880. I was the ninth guy on the team in that event. Our team took first in state in the 880, three guys on the team qualified for state in that event; we also took first in the two mile relay and first in the sprint medley. It may appear fast but not compared to my buddies. And it was a long time ago when times were slower. Top guys on the team ran a 1:50 in the 880; our top miler went 4:09 or so in the mile.

Age 20 , 5:57 weight 221 6'0. Knees can't take asphalt/pavement pounding anymore.

How long did you practice to get a sub 6 minute? I have always been more of a combat sports guy and weightlifter but would like to take running a little more seriously now that injuries and age are catching up with being a maniac in my 20s lol

an entire summer ! We had to run sub 7 mile second day of 2 a days when we reported for football camp in College. Coaching staff told us we wouldn't see the field if we didn't make the 7 minute mark. I was running every night after my summer job June through mid August. Only problem was the daily aerobic sapped some strength because I was so focused on making the time limit I neglected the heavy weight work outs. That was 35 years ago though Bro. Plus I was used to lots of distance running from wrestling season. I was lean as hell but lost some animal strength. The key was to set a good pace but not too fast so that you didn't peter out . Got my first pair of new balance back then which were far superior to running in the old Nike hi tops.

That's good info, I also bought a very expensive pair of New balance for running they are phenomenal and make a big difference. That's a crazy time to run especially for a 200+ dude. I ran my last fastest time at 225lbs and was pretty swole. I have slimmed down some due to a much cleaner diet but 210 is where I'm at now and I feel quick and light so the idea of running a faster time seems feasible being 15lbs lighter. Muscular endurance and raw strength are so different it seems you train to be excellent at one or the other but not both. My best lifts were when I was probably my slowest mile wise and my best runs I was training alot of cardio but the weightlifting maxes were down. Life as a natural non enhanced athlete you kinda pick what you want because you can't have it all like the juicers.

I had incredible endurance that season, so much so I would leave my Riddell on and buckled up at water break but as I posted lost strength. Bench went from 375 to barely 300. That was clean no juice. Stay away from the steroid ****. Buddies of mine that I lifted with that were powerlifters and one bodybuilder are beacoup screwed physically now. Hair loss, organ issues and even viagra barely helps them. Start by setting a time goal when you start your training cycle and try to shave off a few seconds every couple days. Full disclosure, I never replicated that effort because of a change in coaching staff the following year and I vowed to never lose strength like that again.
