What are the advantages to getting bulk wheat versus getting bulk flour to store?
I plan on the Mylar Bag / O2 absorbers and 5 Gallon Bucket method.
I don't have a grinder/mill....yet....

I was in Costco and saw they had 45 lbs of hard white wheat sealed in 6 gallon buckets. It says on the bucket that it is sealed with less than 10% moisture. Company is Lehi Roller Mills. They are $19.

Exactly what is the differences between store bought (EE, etc) vs. local feed store wheat and other grains? I have done alot of searching and have found some info. What should I look for at a feed store in making a purchase of "good" grains? Any and all help is appreciated!:thumb:
Is it to be expected that substances such as flour and powdered milk will not become as "compact" as other items stored in buckets w/O2 absorber and mylar? I have a 25 lb. bag of flour w/ 2 1000cc O2 absorbers and am not seeing the bag as sucked in as with beans and wheat. Just wondering.

Everyone talks about storing wheat as part of thier long term storage. Since I don't have a mill, I was thinking about storing flour in mylar with oxy absorbers. Is there a reason why people store wheat instead of flour. Is it a matter of cost with flour costing more or are there other reasons.
Just got back from my Wally World prep run. My question is : What is the best way to store all-purpose bleached flour, while in the original packaging? Can it be refrigerated or will it be ruined that way? What options do I have?
