Until around the 5th year of our prepping, I had never seen a weevil. Then they hit us like a plague. We had to throw away all the pasta stored in that location. All the pasta that is, that was in traditional boxes. The sealed plastic packs were unharmed. Our policy now is to only buy boxed...

Musta came from the store. So I had to throw out 3x20lb bags of rice and then i found them in my bags of flour and...

I just learned a lesson about prepping in the spring. I had bought two 20 lbs bags of pinto beans a couple of weeks ago and just now am sealing them in Maylar bags. Well I noticed a few worms in one bag. The lesson for me is to make sure I seal what I get in the spring as soon as I get them...

I've seen bugs in rice and flour, but I've never seen bugs in beans. Anyone gets bugs in their legumes? I'm thinking of storing a coupe of 5 gallon pails of different types of beans still in their original bags, and wondering if this is ok? I'll be using these beans within a year, so they'll...

Ok, for you people that buy bulk beans and flour, how are you killing the weevil eggs? Several months ago my wife opened a bag of beans that had not been frozen, only to find several weevils crawling around. Since then I have started deep freezing all of my bags of beans before they go into...

My wife got a bag of dried beans out last night. When she dumped the beans into a bowl of water, several weevils can to the top. I said it was ok to cook them, but he decided not to, so we got a another bag of beans out. Our ancestors must of thought pretty bad about weevils to give them a...
