I live on a cattle farm in pretty rural area of MS. As more people move closer my wife and I worry more about break ins and such. Also we live on the top of a hill and in the last two years we have had two tornados within a week of Christmas that have been a little to close to home. My question...
  3. Firearms General Discussion
This thread will hopefully discuss guns and bunkers and which is better to own, a bunker or guns or both? I have heard that If someone owns their own bunker - deep secure shelter, they won't need any guns. Which I don't agree with. The humorous movie "Blast from the Past" is proof of a...

This is an idea I came up with for an optimal bunker. My idea is elaborate and expensive but some of the concepts could be applied on a smaller scale. I honestly think that in whatever type of scenario having a fully hidden, self sufficient bunker is invaluable. I will outline a few of my ideas...

Just wondering how everyone else treats the outside of their bunker before they bury them in the ground?

Has anyone tried using 40' water/milk tankers as a bunker? I found an old one on CL for $500 delivered. The axles are trashed but the tank holds pressure. Just a thought.

I'm posting this to get ideas for my underground bunker. I am a welder so I have decided to go the steel box route. 1-I will be building it myself. 2- I want it to be 8' tall x 8' wide x 12' long. 3- Will be using 4'x8'x 3/16" sheets. Trying to decide on the reinforcment ribs, either 3"...

OK I am looking for suggestions, designs and ect... I am a poor so I cannot afford all these underground shelters... What I am looking for is a bunker that I can store supplies, and additonally house a couple of people when needed and have an addition for a root cellar. Majority of the time...

This seems like a really bad idea to me. If people want you out of your bunker all they have to do is cut off your air supply. Being undwerground doesn't appeal to me anyway. I am claustrophobic to the max degree.

A friend of mine wants to build an underground sHipping crate shelter. He's seen several designs here and on other websites and he is trying to get a fix of what it will really cost him to do it. If he just looks at the base cost of buying two 30 foot shipping containers lining them with...
  12. Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) Survival
Companies that sell above ground, premade, NBC bunker. We have considered some options for "creating" something indoors but in pricing what we could do on our own, I think we would save money (and of course time) with something prefab. Looking for East Coast, small and inexpensive. Thanks...

Hello, unexperienced person here... we had a 6x10x6ft high concrete storm shelter buried in our yard this week. it is covered by about 18-20" of dirt. The concrete is almost a foot thick on all sides and roof. It has a large metal door entrance on top and 2 "whirly birds" for air ventilation...

I found this site. It's for a company that builds bomb shelters. They have lots of good pictures and a downloadable pdf book that tells a lot about the shelters they build. The book and site give a good deal of construction details. Useful to someone thinking of building their own. One could...

Has anyone built a small underground home two levels high? 600 square feet would be all I need, but it would be nice to have a lower basement level to store food and my hobby, beer, because they will stay fresher, longer for extended periods of time. I presume drainage issues might be an...

i have seen underground buses before but this one is totally buried. i don't know what would keep someone from driving over it, and i don't think the roof could hold much weight. http://www.wltz.com/story/16618542/school-bus-used sorry if it has been posted before

I live in Northern Alabama, the last tornado outbreak had tornadoes 10 miles on each side of me and last year also. I live in a 1964 Brick rancher on the bluff of sand mountain. I was looking at plans to build a Tornado shelter but had an idea. The living room was 10ft x 32ft with a 10ft x 32 ft...

Anyone ever think of any ideas to make your basement more fortified I guess? I was thinking like a small brick or cement hut I guess you could say, just big enough for the family to get inside if a bad natural disaster happened. Thought maybe it could provide more protection from falling debris...
