I will make this as simple of a question as I can. If I buy a box of pasta and stick it on the "prep" shelf in my dry, cool (55-65*) basement and walk away how long would it last before it's useless or harmful nutritionally?
Same with a bag of beans?
I've searched on this forum and simply can...
I've read many conflicting accounts on how to store pasta.
Some say use o2 absorbers,...some say no use a dessicant.
Some say salt it down,...some say just vacuum seal.
Anybody have experience with this?
I was going to do just mylar and o2 packets?

I've stored rice and beans in Mylar bags packed in 5 gallon pails but haven't packed any pasta. I'm not sure how to do pasta. Do you store spaghetti, shell, or elbows? Take them out of the bag and put them in the Mylar with an O2 absorber? Seems like there would be a lot of space left...
