I will make this as simple of a question as I can. If I buy a box of pasta and stick it on the "prep" shelf in my dry, cool (55-65*) basement and walk away how long would it last before it's useless or harmful nutritionally? Same with a bag of beans? I've searched on this forum and simply can...

I've read many conflicting accounts on how to store pasta. Some say use o2 absorbers,...some say no use a dessicant. Some say salt it down,...some say just vacuum seal. Anybody have experience with this? I was going to do just mylar and o2 packets?

Wal-Mart has a sale on Knorr Pasta Sides for $1 and I have coupons for 50 cents off two, (a bunch of them). You just need to add water or chicken broth to boil them and eat. How do you suggest I store 20-30 of them for a year to keep potential bugs out? I noticed most packs had about a year to...

I bought some Heavy duty mylar bags 'cause I do alot of dehydrated vegs etc. My thought was if they're 7 mils thick it would be quite difficult to develop a pin hole in the bag. .......So I've been doin lots of red potatoes so far and when they're bone dry they have some sharp edges....like bow...

I've stored rice and beans in Mylar bags packed in 5 gallon pails but haven't packed any pasta. I'm not sure how to do pasta. Do you store spaghetti, shell, or elbows? Take them out of the bag and put them in the Mylar with an O2 absorber? Seems like there would be a lot of space left...
