I got the itch to buy more ammo. Before buying more, I thought I'd look at what I had around already. Most of my ammo is stored in 50 cal cans. They have been stored in a nice dry area for 3 years and in a non-climate controlled basement for a year. hunting grade ammo: All looked as good as...

Has anyone have a reason NOT to store ammo in a car? Is there danger of it going off, ruining, or any laws that say you cannot store more than x number of pounds? Reason I ask this is because I don't want to wait until the last minute to load my bug out vehicle with all the ammo I have. I...

Before storing my ammo in military surplus ammo cans, I would like to lube up the rubber seal to keep them from cracking over time. Does anyone know which product would work best for this? I was thinking BreakFree CLP or Vaseline. I can not find any information on whether BreakFree CLP hurts...

I heard that ammo will keep pretty much forever if it stays dry. I figured since I am storing some of this in my basement that may be damp at times that I should vacuum seal it. So that is what I did - that & matches. what else could I use this for?

I've been testing vacuum sealing my ammo at home. I think it's a great way to store, protect, and even waterproof your ammunition. I'm considering adding a dissecant gel cap to the package next time, although I not sure if it will cause any kind of problem such as corrosion to the ammo.

My apologies to member "Kahn" if there has already been a post on this topic. I did a search, but I didn't see one. Here goes... I am in the market for a main battle rifle in a SHTF/post-TEOTWAWKI type scenario. Based on my career as a USAF TACP, I am not really interested in relying on an...
