I didn't want to start a new thread. But all threads on this topic were from 2009. So here it is... I own 2 of the Modular Sleep Systems. They came with a patrol bag that provides cold weather protection from 35 to 50 °F (1.67 °C to 10 °C). The intermediate bag provides cold weather protection...

I know you're not supposed to store sleeping bags rolled up tight in their stuff sacks. You're supposed to hang them or lay them out flat (under the bed or something). Is there a way to keep them safe from moths and dust mites if they're just out like that? Even a lawn & leaf trashbag...

Does your BOB really need a sleeping bag or tent? I am always thinking of ways to make my BOB lighter and easier to work with. Now before I go on my definition of a BOB is my 72 hour, get from point A to BOL or home bag. That’s all its there for. It includes basic survival gear, small first...

I'm going on my first winter packing trip ever this weekend! Anyway, I have my ALICE pack loaded...Almost, I went to lash down my MSS to the bottom of my frame. The MSS hangs right at the top of my legs when I walked it flopped around it was alright for a few steps but I can see this being a...

Has anybody tried using a sleepingbag liner? I have a good +20 degree mummy bag, but want it to be useful at lower temps. I dont plan on using it in sub-zero temps, but want a little more out of it without getting a new one. It said that they can add 10 degrees to your existing sleeping bag.

I was hoping to get some thoughts on what you think about quality tents and sleeping bags. What do you look for when purchasing these items? Are there durable, all season types?

In my last post I was asking what you used for your sleeping system (pad, pillow, bag, or wool blanket). I have put some thought into what would be a great system for all times of the year and not just the spring through fall. I'm really leaning toward the authentic usgi sleep system with some...

I went to a sporting goods shop last night and I was looking at one that was $99 with a 20% discount. Had a 2.2lb weight with a 20 degree rating. I want to find a warm sleeping bag that I could easily just roll up and put in my backpack.

Looking to pick up a junior sized sleeping back for my son as we are going camping soon. It has to be mummy and preferably 10* or less on the temp rating. Anyone know of the best deals online right now?

Daily Steals has a special on 2 High Peak Simex Sport Sirius Sleeping Bags. One's Olive & the other is Black. They didn't list a temperature rating, but after a little searching, it appears that they are rated for down to 21.2 degrees F. They are to only weight 1.2 lbs. Just an FYI for...

I was wondering if it was feasible to use a hammock, tarp, and an ECWCS sleep system for a 4 season get up.

I am looking at this sleeping bag right here http://www.military-sleeping-bags.com/survivaldown.html and it is a winter bag. I am thinking in a shtf situation it would be better to be to hot then freezing to death. Were I live it can get below -15C easily in the winter and my BOL which is a 1...

OK, what is the correct way to attach the GI Sleep System Bag to the Medium Alice Pack with frame? Also is there a secure way to attach this while the pack frame shelf is in place also? I have tried different ways and they seem to smack around unsecured. Thanks! :thumb:

I have gone through a lot of the forum and read up on the GI sleep system. It gets a tone of mixed reviews. I am looking for something that can be adaptable to almost any situation, and while being considerably heavy, was looking into getting one of these. I have read many posts about the...
