Planning a hunting / camping trip on some public hunting lands on a local river. Area is a mix of pine, oak, sweet gum... etc.
Will be hunting small and medium sized game. This means rabbit, squirrel, deer, and wild pigs.
Pick two guns for my trip:
Remington 700 bolt action in 280...
Local pawn shop has a Ruger P89 for sale for a little over $300.
Pass or buy?
Why Buy? Because the P89 is a mostly forgotten piece of handgun history. During the late 1980s and through the 1990s Ruger made some excellent P series handguns. I had a P90 in 45acp, and a P91 in 40 S&w.
Local gun store has a Ruger American Rifle in 308 Winchester for something like $450. I do not remember the "exact" price, but it was somewhere in that price range.
I am thinking about putting a rifle on lay away for an early christmas present to myself.
Something that caught my eye the other day on youtube, the topic was the new Sig 320 being adopted. Someone said the military needed to get rid of the outdated Beretta design and go with something more modern.
Then the person said something along the lines of "modern like a glock." Or...
So my truck and my car have had a GHB each for awhile now, but I've wanted to be able to tool up when I go away. My day to day work week doesn't allow that, my car is subject to random searches as a govt. contractor. So for the weekends or trips, I have come up with throwing in an...
Here is my heavily modified, super sexified, just finished 10/22 Take Down.
Tactical Solutions threaded barrel w/ Hogue over mold stock. (The bipod in this pic is a Harris and the sling a Talon)
Volquartsen drop in trigger (2.5lbs)
Kidd bolt with charging handle / springs / bolt buffer...
Fairly new gun, haven't had any problems with it, prob only 200-250 rounds through it. Have the SR40 as well, but am slowly moving to a 9mm platform. I now CC the SR9c, instead of a Shield in .40
I don't really care about the cosmetics as much, however, i do like the look of the steel rod...
I'm getting ready to move to Wisconsin and I'm planning on deer hunting this year. I can only afford to buy one long gun prior to hunting season. If anyone has any advice on why one would be better than the other, please let me know. Here are the three I'm considering:
Remington 870: I can pick...
Any thoughts, advice, personal experience on the Mini14 tactical? Had one and like an idiot, went back to an AR. Only issue seems to be magazine costs. Are there after market mags that work?
Not interested in an AK.
I received my Ruger Air Magnum in the mail about two weeks ago and I have had a great time shooting and saving money on ammo. I searched for about a month trying to figure out what the best air rifle for me would be.
I knew that Gamo rifles were good for plinking and some small game, but they...
Haven't seen a thread about this yet. Store price will be around $599. Looks like a nice entry level AR from a quality company. What's not to like? Other than there doesn't seem to be a front sling attachment.
Yep, been a year since I got a Mossberg 702.
But I realize that there is hardly any aftermarket stuff for it.
The only things they sell for it is 10rd and 25rd magazine made from Mossberg and dang they are expensive and hard to find.
The rifle is getting kind of popular, but never get nuff...
Back in the day, before LEOs carried double stack pistols with more rounds at the ready than my ancestor Lt Joseph (*****)'s entire Light Horse Dragoon unit had loaded in their pistols in 1778.....there was a term New York Reload,,,which was If I recall meant the service revolver in their...
Here i will chronicle the ongoing upgrades of my beloved Ruger 10/22 Carbine. I have other more expensive rifles including an AR-15, but none are more fun to pimp out than this little guy!
I gave it it's name for an obvious reason after I FINALLY killed one of the groundhogs that had been...
