I have purchased 300 cc absorbers in packages of 50 count. I have been reading here that you can see them working in as little time as 15 minutes. My question is this. Are the 02 absorbers going to lose there effectiveness while I am working with them sealing up bags for an hour or two? I...

I have hit on a way to vacuum pack my rice stores. I fill 1 quart mason jars with uncooked rice Then bake them in the oven set to 220 degrees F after about 10 minutes I remove the jars and seal the lids. When they cool the lids suck down the same as they do when regular canning. Vacuum packed...

Can 300cc O2 absorbers be used in 2 liter (67.6 oz.) bottles? How about in the smaller 32 oz. Gatorade bottles? This is my first experience with any absorber--surely it doesn't suck inward and/or deform the bottle in any way. Also, I read recently that the absorbers shouldn't be used for...

Need to order O2 absorbers. Where have you found the best price? Also, they seem to come in packs of 100. I don't plan to use 100 at a time. How do you keep them all from going bad if you open the bag or does each one come individually wrapped?

How can I tell that the oxygen absorber I put in with my rice is doing it's job? When can I expect maximum oxygen removal? I know I won't get a "vacuum seal" look (air being nearly 80% nitrogen) to see that it's working. And I don't want to open a mylar bag 5 years from now and find that...

The last preps that I sealed up had about 6-8 inches or so of extra mylar at the top. I put in the O2 absorber, pushed out the air and then sealed. Am I compromising my preps by allowing the extra mylar? Should I have cut the bags so that there was less extra space. Thanks

Ok I am a bit new to oxygen absorbers so let me ask this. Last week I started with my long term food storage preps. I vacuum sealed rice after freezing it for a few days then I put the sealed packages inside 5 gal buckets. I put 1 2000 cc oxygen absorber per bucket, 3 days later the sides of the...

I am sealing up farina. About 2lbs in a 8x12 mylar. Will one 500cc absorber be enough? Thanks! BIH

I searched, then searched again and for good measure searched one more time with every string I could think of and couldn't find the answer.... Is it OK to use oxygen absorbers in a mylar bag (for long term food storage) in addition to vacuum sealing the bag? I've heard conflicting...

I recently purchased a large package of Oxygen absorbers. After this weekend's packing I will still have half or so left. What is the best way to store them as I do not have a heat sealer? WIll a tight bottle work effectively?????

First, here is my idea. I want to pack 4 or 5 1 gallon mylar bags into a 5 gallon bucket and then seal the bucket with some oxygen absorbers. I would fill the mylar bags with either beans or rice, and I would use absorbers on them too. That way if somebody opens one bucket, they will have...

I have some MREs whose shelf life has expired or will expire in the next time. Thus I will have a lot of plastic waste left after eating the MREs- and there will be also some little packages of "oxygen absorber" left. The brand is "ageless" - are they useful for any means anymore or just waste...
