meals ready to eat

  1. Food and water
Newbie's 3rd post here. What are the groups thoughts on the above subject. Personally, if there is a situation of water to be purified, MRE would be my choice. Only down side is they tend to "bind" you up if eaten daily. There has to be a happy medium, so what's the word. Thanks for the...

So this is just my opinion to play the devils advocate, if nothing else. Feel free to argue otherwise :-) . Why waste money on an MRE? First of all, after eating like 6 billion MRE meals in the field and over seas I can say that they officially suck and you never get any damn jalapeno cheddar...

Question: If an inspection date is says November, 2011, does this mean the shelf life starts from this date? thanks in advance.

Good Day, In case some people don't know or a reminder for people who have heard of the above, I noticed there pieces of wrapped food called emergency rations (EMR) and meals ready to eat (MRE). EMR's are thick squares of food that can be had for relatively inexpensive prices. Their shelf...

I posted earlier that I had a little extra funds and was curious about MRE purchases. Well, I pulled the trigger... er... I guess I clicked the mouse button... several times! Went to TheEpicenter.com: ______________________________________________ The items you ordered are shown below...

I've had a case for awhile that a friend in the ARMY got me. I always keep 1 or 2 in my hunting pack/camp just in case. I entered the code on one of the sights and they have expired. What does one do now with expired MRE's..seems like a waste just to chuck them. Thanks

Hi all. Please forgive me if this question is either stupid or a repeat of one that has been asked many times before. I'm late to the game and just getting started learning in the preparedness arena. Would it make sense to store MRE pouches in sealed mylar bags with O2 absorbers like you...

I recent acquired 10 cases of MRE's doing some yard sale prep. http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?t=161663 They are leftovers from Hurricane Ivan and for anyone interested the procedure for getting MRE's, water and Ice was as follows. Drive to the drop off point. Wait patiently in...

I am looking at beefing up out gear. I have a few things and we need to add some things. I have no idea what to add though. I went through the 1 bag and started splitting up everything into 2 bags. I have a camelbak bag that was holding everything, and now I have a LA police gear bag that my...

The Defense Logistics agency has new information on the shelf life of MREs. It is quite a bit shorter than the old one. Here is a link to an article on it. http://www.preparednessadvice.com/ Sorry I put this up a second time because of a misspelling in the title and I thought this information...

Just curious to know if anyone has ever made their own MRE's....just the entre' not the entire meal with all the extras. I was thinking that you could make something on the order of Beaf stew or similar and pour it into a small....say 5x8" mylar bag, squeeze out as much as as possible, then seal it.

I'm used to eating Mountain House and Alpine Aire (because of camping/hiking..and they are lightweight). However, I'm looking at trying to find a good price on MREs, when light weight isn't a concern. Any suggestions? Evidently I'm not searching good enough on the forums. Thanks!

I was looking at different emergency foods and found these WISE rations, seems like a good deal any opinions? Also anyone know of a good place to purchase MREs?

 Got this in an email from "The Ready Store" this morning: Emergency Preparedness 101 Where is the food? If you have tried to buy food storage from us or from any of our competitors over the last four months you are not alone. The truth is that demand is through the roof right now and...

Hey guys, i looked online and searched the forum a bit, didn't find a definitive anwser on how long emergency rations are edible for after the expiration date? I just wanted to know if they're like canned food that expire but un-opened, don't really ever go bad? Or do you open up a 7 yr old...

Buddy of mine and I last weekend went down to Southern MO to clear some trees off his property. Tried my first MRE, it was the Vegetarian Spaghetti and suddenly I'm addicted. I got to tell you it was enough and good stuff!! Then just today my gal and I went out to a place called Missouri...
