This is my first attempt at making a homemade knife of any type. I started with a circular saw blade, ruler, french curve and a sharpie. Here are some pics of what I have so far. As you will see I have wrapped the handle with 550 cord.
ok I tried out the angle iron and while they make cheap knives theydo make good spear heads but now i want to know about mower blades i have gotten hold of a crap load of them along with random other metals but would mower blades make a good knife that i coud be proud of?
Almost complete with my latest blade, just needs some scales and she'll be good to go.

I have always been impressed with the Finnish and Swedish laminated carbon steel blades. Laminated means a piece of extremely hard (Rockwell 60-63) steel sandwiched between two pieces of softer steel. This makes an extremely durable knife blade that holds and keeps an incredibly sharp edge.
