I don't know which was worse, we can never know. Now we got internet, instant news, hand wipes and lots of experience to help with corona.
To compare the two we would have had to compare them as conditions were in 1918.
(The flu of 1918 was caused by the H1N1 virus with genes of avian origin.)
I can't possibly see anything going wrong creating the deadliest virus on the planet in a level 2 research facility.

This came to my attention when i heard that a friend of a co-worker had contracted H1N1. The local paper reports 1 death at this time.
...maybe the next step is putting it in our food?
Most children who get 2009 H1N1 flu feel better within a week. Other children get very sick. Some even have a hospital stay, and some die. Children who get vaccinated are less likely to get the flu.
Fox news just reported that there is a recall of 107,000 doses of vaccine due to increased adverse reactions to getting the Vaccine. Just another "here's your Sign", for not getting the shot or nasel spray.

My wife and I just got back from our Pediatrician for our first visit with my second daughter. She was 7 weeks early and 2 lbs 15oz but she is healthy with no resultant cardiovascular issues. He mentioned that they want her to be treated for RSV. I asked why all the paperwork and "admission"...
No need to panic, just a report over new concerns.
This could also be a future concern for the Asian h5n1 hotspots.
