Several years ago there was some controversy in how much oxygen was in Wise freeze dried pouches.
Does anyone know if that issue has been resolved?
I have been doing taste test videos and was wondering if I should do some on Wise pouches?
Here is the playlist for my Mountain House videos -...
Taste testing the Mountain House Lasagna 30 year pouch.
These used to have a seven year shelf life, so I did not buy very many of them. However, mountain house recently extended the life of their seven year pouches to 30 years.
Now that the pouches have a 30 year shelf life I am adding them...
Make your opinion count and tell me how you feel about GMO ingredients in your freeze dried emergency food/buckets. You will actually contribute to our family decision as to whether or not to add a another freeze dried food brand to our offering (Hint: It is a favored brand on this site.)

Has anyone tried any older, something like 20 years or older, freeze dried foods (like Mountain House cans) to see if they still have a good flavor? I have read on some post that they have tried it after 6-8 years but I was wondering about something a lot longer. Maybe even 20-30 year old stuff...
I recently received my free sample from Wise foods. Let me start by saying that the customer rep who contacted me about my interests in Wise foods, was not only polite, but also offered to send me the Camping Food instead of the home food(after I explained to him my use of food for a go-bag.)
I...
I found this link with information on a taste test preformed by Oregon State University on Wise and Mountain House foods. http://bit.ly/P81sZW It gives the details of the taste tests which Mountain House won.
spotted an interesting article posted on Survivalmom.com;

Oregon Freeze Dried down in Albany, Oregon decided to evaluate Wise Foods claims to 25 year shelf life...
The following is a response from Jim Merryman, the COO of Oregon Freeze Dry, the parent company of Mountain House.
I appreciate his responding and his response. I did tell him that I wish his explanation could have been as public (on CNN) as the comments that engendered the response.

I just got started on my long term storage. So far I've put away 50# of white rice, 10# of Pinto beans, some elbow macaroni , some oatmeal and grits. All in 1 gallon sized Mylar...
Since I started camping again, it pretty much got me to start preparing as well at home. That being said, I was wondering what's your take on freeze dried foods or MREs? Are they any good? I recently came across this site where they are giving away $250 worth of freeze dried food. I'm thinking...

Hey Gents, wanted to get some opinions on Wise Foods' Grab and Go bucket.
http://www.campingsurvival.com/wifo60seenon.html
25 year shelf life, affordable but needs water to reconstitute.
Opinions?
Would MRE's or just canned food be better?
Thanks
I'm a fan of Mountain House freeze dried products. They taste good to me, they have a great shelf life, they offer variety, etc. I do not work for them nor for Readymade Resources.
Readymade has Mountain House on sale right now for 25% off the normal retail, that's a significant savings...

Im looking for the type of food packs that you would just need to add water.
I have heard of a few different companies such as Mountain House...
I was looking at some of the preps we have put away along with some recent experiments of items and have came to an interesting conclusion.
While some items in #10 cans are great (Wheat)... others are less then wonderful.
Powdered eggs - there are about 94 "egg servings" in a #10 can.. and...
