In my last thread, Nomad, 2nd said I need to make it a little longer, so here I go.
For April 2017 I decided to focus on rechargeable USB devices. Rather than going with a large 12 volt panel, to a charge controller, and then to a battery, I decided to go dabble in a solar panel that has USB...
If anyone is looking for a nice little radio to put back with there emergency
supplies here's one to consider. I just got it and it does everything they say
it will. I played with the short wave side band or whatever it is and I got
a lot of people speaking in metric or something I can't...
Hi Folks...thanks in advance for your help.
1.) Can anyone recommend a decent solar/hand crank radio? I found this one for $34 and it looks like a winner but I'd love some advice from someone who currently uses one and can recommend one? I found this thread but would like your input further...
Found a used Grundig FR200 in great shape on Craigslist for $15. I don't know a lot about these but googled some reviews and seems like knowledgable people speak highly of it. For now, its my only emergency radio, so its better than nothing and I got it dirt cheap :D:
I was looking at radio/charger and now it's not available. Does anyone know of a comparable radio that is freely available at a similar price. The one cool thing about it is it has cell phone charges included.
I saw a link for this product, and I'm interested in getting a solar powered radio or two for the BOB, and apartment. If anyone has used this item, let me know your thoughts, or if you could recommend a better model. Here are the links...
So I will start with the apology.
I am on many forums and I am about to break all the rules.
I have only been searching for about an hour and I am giving up.
I just want someone to tell me what the BEST is.
Yes, this is my first post.
Sorry.
I am looking for the best portable emergency...
I bought 2 radios today.
one is a emergency radio from ETON. It is oneof the simple American Red Cross radios with weather/AM/FM. It also has weather alert function. It is solar powered, has a hand crank and can charge my cell phone and FRS radio using USB and the hand crank.
I turned on...
While on a camping trip with a buddy this weekend, I had a small lapse of gear envy. We were at our camping spot, relaxing, doing some fishing, when my buddy pulls out his am/fm/weather radio. The radio is a Kaito Electronics Voyager. So my buddy starts telling me about the radio - its solar...
Hey everyone,
I'm looking to see what your suggestions are for an emergency radio? I see Eton has a couple, even some with built in GMRS, but they have bad ratings on Amazon.
I like the idea of GMRS on a solar powered / crank powered unit, saves the need for additional batteries if possible...
What is the best survival lighter to get? Do Zippos do something that others dont? Whats the best butane that will light in all conditions etc?
Whats the best crank radio?

I believe I've narrowed my choices down to two radios for emergencies.
Both have dynamo charging capabilies, built in flashlights and cell-phone chargers, and NOAA frequencies.
I like this one for the fact that it has a GMRS radio built in.
I like this one because it has a solar charger and...

I found a nifty hand crank AM/FM/WB radio at CVS for only $10. If you are prepping on a budget, this might fit the bill:
Emergency Radio Review: Battery Free Crank Radio From Innovage Outdoor
I think it is a pretty good deal for the price. :thumb:
I'm on my second (failed) emergency radio and looking for better options. First one I had was Eton fr250 with a crank and it failed both electrically and structurally (very poor battery door design) with normal at-the-house use. Got a second radio Eton fr150 at Cabellas with crank power AND...
