Dear Community, It takes a good, strong man thumb to depress a Cold Steel Triad lock:cool:. Originally this post was meant to ask how to make the triad lock of the mini recon series easier to close, but I realize now that if I concentrate on what's great about this knife, I don't mind the fact...

what is a good knife for a load carrier? I am putting together a fighting load carrier (FLC) and am looking at mounting a knife on it. I have an SOG mini pentagon 2. It has a blade of around 3 inches. Which makes it nice and compact. On the other hand, do you really need a knife on a load...
  3. Knives, Swords & Axes
One of the great topics in the survivalist / prepping community is about survival knives. Everyone has an opinion about what kind of knife would be ideal for surviving in a post-SHTF / post-TEOTWAWKI world. Some of the discussions on knives revolve around real world situations, while a lot of...

Here is a Cold Steel Rifleman's Hawk I modded. Just figured I would share it. I did some filework on the head as well as a lemon and mustard patina. I wood burned the designs portraying Apache Indian designs from my personal research. All finished up with some gunstock stain and polyurethane.

I went to Oklahoma a few weeks ago on the little river and decided to make a short nature video mixed some norse hawk throwing. It is a half nature video filmed on a glidecam mixed with throwing throughout. Let me know what you think! Be sure to watch in 720p or better!

I did a review of the Cold Steel Gladius machete, I imagine you've all seen reviews for it before but I thought I'd make a review anyway as there are some flaws with it I've found such as the blade being over-sharpened. http://youtu.be/auYGrFhHF7g Also apologies if I don't use lots of sword...

I posted this in the knives section but didnt get much of a response. I think it'll be more appropriate here... I've been thinking of purchasing the Coldsteel knife fighting DVD. Anyone have any experience with it or know of any better ones? I'm more interested in western style knife fighting...

I've been rethinking the metal I lug around in my pack and have decided a multitool combined with a machete is gonna be my new setup. I've narrowed it down to 2 choices The Kabar Kukri Machete (top) and the Coldsteel Kukri machete (bottom). The Coldsteel version is cheaper so thats my...

What are your thoughts on this knife? Does it make a good spear? Let me know, this is general cold steel discussion, and if you want, refer me to something else, I'm looking to make it a spear, because its a knike, that doubles as a spear it seems great for survival hunting, but the fact that it...

You have $25 to spend, you want to buy a good quality knife, so which one do you buy? What is the purpose of a $25 survival knife? In my opinion, knives in that price range are disposable. They are the knives that if lost or stolen are not going to be expensive to replace. From a survivalist...

So here the thing, I am looking to spend a few bucks here on a high end Bushcraft specific knife. Not a tactical knife, or a hunting knife. The knives I have selected are the ones I am seriously interested in, I will however leave an other option just in case there is something I have...

What should I get? I can legally carry anything folding as long as it is not assisted, auto, or gravity. NO SERRATED EDGES NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! Also, If the knife is waved I would prefer that. Some choices I'm looking at, but not limited to: Cold Steel AK47 Spyderco Delica FFG Spyderco Endura...

Over the winter, having been bitten by both the survival/preparedness and more mundane outdoorsy bugs, I picked up a Becker BK-2 Campanion fixed blade knife and a Cold Steel Special Forces (aka Spetznaz) shovel. This weekend I went out camping (nothing fancy or heavy duty, just a short walk...

I just though I'd share a photo. I wish I'd seen a photo like this when I was initially buying the first one (Laredo Bowie). Although I like the Laredo, it's the one I've yet to use at all and probably never will and that's only because I find the trailmaster and the recon scout 110% capable...
