I am planning on building up my food storage supplies soon and had a question regarding commercial bulk long term food. I have looked at several different brands including Augustun Farms and Mountain House, etc, and I want to know what is the most cost effective long term...
So I believe as long as canned vegetables are kept in good conditions they will last way longer then the expiration date. But, would it be better to dehydrate and then seal in Mylar? Or am I thinking to hard...
Continued from my shelving project, I got some more can rotation systems installed, for a total of 13 racks. With those 13 racks, I should be able to store around 130 - 150 cans.

So many folks say that canned food can last veritably forever so long as it it kept in a cool dry place. I assume they are talking about canned foods from the store. But what about home canned foods? In my father in laws basement, he has many, many cans of foods that were canned by my husbands...

Have lots of veggies & soups. Is this the best move? I can't afford freeze dried food & would prefer to stockpile foods that I will eat on a regular basis so I can cycle them out over time to keep them relatively "fresh".
Wondering if anyone has ordered the #10 cans of beans or rice or oats from Latter Day Saints? Their prices for a case (6 #10 cans) of each of the above is a lot cheaper than other sites. Also they have free shipping. Looking to get some of these basics stored and this seems to be the best...
